A review of relevant RFCs suggests we should revise this in future, probably at Qt 6. The documentation also only addressed the formats recognized when parsing a date-time, without indicating how they are serialised or how dates and times are handled separately. Added a note to the tests for the read-only formats, to remind the reader that the RFCs merely recommend recognising these - be permissive in what you expect and strict in what you deliver. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Loading a session manager can be problemtatic for system services that are always auto-activated or small DBus activated helpers which shouldn't really be restored nor gain anything from a session. The current solutions is to connect to commitDataRequest and saveStateRequest and then reset a restart hint. It's very unintuitive and somewhat wasteful given the X session manager is full of slow blocking calls. Rather than changing the behavior of QGuiApplication and handling null pointers, this patch loads the base QPlatformSessionManager that is used by QPAs that don't have a session manager. But the pointer API also supports querying and retrieving the skipped individual touch and pen frames. There are cases where keeping all the events generated by the hardware is desired, especially for pen events where having the most sampled points available is critical to precisely rendering curves. Qt already defines application attributes to control event compression for general high frequency events and for tablet events in particular. Use them on Windows also to control whether to retrieve skipped frames. This update fixes most of what was wrong, but tuning the details of the namespace reference pages might follw. We have namespace Qt as an exaqmple. Most of the elements in the Qt namespace are in QtCore, but a few functions are declared in QtGui. Before this update, qdoc used the hack of using #ifdef to remove the declarations from qtextdocument.h in QtGui and .cpp and then added them back into qtnamespace.h and .cpp in QtCore. Now that hack is no longer necessary. The functions in the Qt namespace that are declared in QtGui are documented there, but the documentation is linked to from the namespace reference page, which remains in QtCore. That is, only one \namespace command is used to document the Qt namespace, and it appears in qnamespace.qdoc where it always did, but the documentation for the Qt namespace functions declared in QtGui is now appears in qtextdocument.cpp where it belongs. By switching the typical program->addShaderFromSourceCode(QOpenGLShader::Vertex, ...) program->addShaderFromSourceCode(QOpenGLShader::Fragment, ...) invocations to program->addCacheableShaderFromSourceCode(QOpenGLShader::Vertex, ...) program->addCacheableShaderFromSourceCode(QOpenGLShader::Fragment, ...) the compilation may be skipped via gl(Get)ProgramBinary and a disk cache, when supported. Such QOpenGLShaderProgram instances will have no QOpenGLShader instances attached. Instead, the entire program binary (which is driver-specific) is loaded as-is. Support means OpenGL ES 3.0 or the presence of GL_ARB_get_program_binary, in combination with >= 1 supported binary formats. Note that some drivers claim program binary support but expose no formats. This amounts to no support in practice. When support is not present, calling the new functions is equivalent to the non-cacheable variants. If the OpenGL driver changes (vendor, renderer, version strings), recompilation and storage of the new, potentially incompatible binary program will happen transparently. The cache can always be disabled by setting QT_DISABLE_SHADER_DISK_CACHE=1 or the new application attribute Qt::AA_DisableShaderDiskCache. Location-wise the primary choice is the shared cache (GenericCacheLocation). If this is not available or is not writable, the per-process one (CacheLocation) is used instead. In addition to the new public APIs in QOpenGLShaderProgram, the main shader users in QtGui are migrated as well. (OpenGL paint engine, glyph cache, blitter, eglfs mouse cursor). This means that any application using QPainter on OpenGL or widgets with eglfs will benefit from the improved startup times. Qt Quick will follow suit as well. [ChangeLog][QtGui][OpenGL] QOpenGLShaderProgram offers a built-in program binary disk cache for systems with OpenGL ES 3.x or GL_ARB_get_program_binary. This can lead to significant increases in performance when it comes to application startup times for example. Usage is opt-in for direct C++ users of the class, however Qt's own main users of shaders, including Qt Quick and QPainter's OpenGL engine, are migrated to use the new, cache-enabled APIs. Opting out on application level is always possible via Qt::AA_DisableShaderDiskCache.
