In the vast majority of cases, the type is known to be efficiently std::swap()able or to have a member-swap. Call either of these. For the common case of pointer types, circumvent the expensive trait checks on std::swap() by providing a hand-rolled qt_ptr_swap() template, the advantage being that it can be unconditionally noexcept, removing all type traits instantiations. Don't document it, otherwise we'd be unable to pick it to 6.2. Construction of QFileInfo from QString (or similar) should be not implicit, as QFileInfo construction is expensive (might hit the file system), and this may have users overlook APIs (for instance build a QFileInfo out of QDirIterator::next(), instead of using ::fileInfo(); using QDir::entryList instead of entryInfoList; etc.). Leave an opt-out mechanism to ease porting. Fix a handful of usages around qtbase, with at least a couple of them likely to be actual "sloppy" code. [ChangeLog][Potentially Source-Incompatible Changes][QFileInfo] Most QFileInfo constructors are now explicit. The QT_IMPLICIT_QFILEINFO_CONSTRUCTION macro is provided to keep old code working. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | At the moment we have two main strategies for dealing with move assignment in Qt: 1) move-and-swap, used by "containers" (in the broad sense): containers, but also smart pointers and similar classes that can hold user-defined types; 2) pure swap, used by containers that hold only memory (e.g. QString, QByteArray, ...) as well as most implicitly shared datatypes. Given the fact that a move assignment operator's code is just boilerplate (whether it's move-and-swap or pure swap), provide two _strictly internal_ macros to help write them, and apply the macros across corelib and gui, porting away from the hand-rolled implementations. The rule of thumb when porting to the new macros is: * Try to stick to the existing code behavior, unless broken * if changing, then follow this checklist: * if the class does not have a move constructor => pure swap (but consider ADDING a move constructor, if possible!) * if the class does have a move constructor, try to follow the criteria above, namely: * if the class holds only memory, pure swap; * if the class may hold anything else but memory (file handles, etc.), then move and swap. Noteworthy details: * some operators planned to be removed in Qt 6 were not ported; * as drive-by, some move constructors were simplified to be using qExchange(); others were outright broken and got fixed; * some contained some more interesting code and were not touched. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | QFileInfoGatherer creates QFileInfo objects in the worker thread to offload the work from the UI thread, but it never calls any methods on the QFileInfo objects that would trigger a stat'ing of the files. For large directories on remote file system, that easily results in the UI thread being blocked for a very long time. Add a private 'stat' method to QFileInfo which allows forcing it to stat all attributes from the worker thread, and make QFileInfoGatherer a friend so that it can call the function from the worker thread. This way, QFileSystemModel can access the cached data for each QFileInfo object, without having to touch the file system from the UI thread. Also reduce the amount of signal emissions for drive information, batch all drives (which can safely be assumed to be at most a two digit figure) into a single emission instead. The common shared code is currently in QFile because QDir had an implicit include of QFile, made explicit in this patch, and QFileInfo has an include to QFile as well. The QT_HAS_STD_FILESYSTEM macro is visible in user-code which I currently take advantage of in the tests, and users could too. The test needs to delay the cleaning up of junctions and files it creates until the checks are complete; since they might fail and make the test function return prematurely, use a scope guard. Because of NTFS symlinks, the interpretation of shotcut files as symlinks is confusing. In this change, QFileInfo treats shortcut (.lnk) files as regular files but can follow the pointed object. In addition, QFileInfo introduces a more comprehensive file type. So that applications can make well-informed decisions about how to treat a file system entry. Based on the implementation of QFileInfo::type(), two inline helper functions are introduced to QFileInfo. 1. isSymbolicLink, returns true if it points to a symbolic link. 2. isShortcut, returns true if it points to a shortcut. Had to add Q_DECLARE_METATYPE to QFileInfo, for QList<QPair<QString,QFileInfo>> of QFileSystemModel to work with the partial specialisations of Q_DECLARE_METATYPE for QList, QPair. In order to synchronize this change with other modules that did their own Q_DECLARE_METATYPE(QFileInfo), a sync macro is defined that can be tested in other modules, and will later be removed again. This is important for applications that interface with other libraries or simply need to use native APIs together with Qt. Traditionally, this information was available in QAbstractFileEngine and forced users to explicitly create an engine or use internal API such as QFile::fileEngine to access the underlying engine and this piece of information. Given its usefulness, exposing the information in a more visible place is more appropriate. This reduces the need for people to know or care about implementation details, like file engines... The existing isLocalFs test was updated and repurposed to use the new API, instead of relying on file engines and internal implementation details of QFileInfo.
