* Correct processEvents documentationAndreas Buhr2020-11-081-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The documentation of processEvents states that it processes all pending events. However, this is not true for the glib backend and probably was not true for at least a decade. QEventDispatcherGlib::processEvents(ProcessEventsFlags) calls "g_main_context_iteration" which is documented to only process events of highest priority: https://developer.gnome.org/glib/2.66/glib-The-Main-Event-Loop.html#g-main-context-iteration Fixes: QTBUG-87307 Task-number: QTBUG-84291 Pick-to: 5.15 Change-Id: I82c6f9dba865bb07f981ad648a128316749682ca Reviewed-by: Thiago Macieira <thiago.macieira@intel.com>

* MinGW: Fix assert in QCoreApplication::arguments() when passing globsTor Arne Vestbø2020-10-291-24/+39
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We can't assume that the number of arguments we get from GetCommandLine will match what we have from argc, as the former is not wildcard expanded on MingGW. mingw64 will ask __getmainargs to expand wildcards depending on the mingw-specific variable _dowildcard. By default this is set to 0 (false), but some mingw64-packagers (msys2, mingw-builds) pass --enable-wildcard during build, changing this default. As a result, the arguments we get through argc/__argc have already been expanded. MinGW does not reflect this through GetCommandLine though, like MSVC does, which triggered the assert. * Plumb application quit through platform pluginTor Arne Vestbø2020-09-141-3/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If we have a platform plugin we ask the platform to quit, and if not we fall back to the base implementation of QCoreApplication that sends Quit events directly. This allows the platform to involve the rest of the system in the process. The platform will then come back with a spontaneous quit via QWSI::handleApplicationTermination(), which will then send the corresponding Quit even from QGuiApplication like normal. * Deliver Quit event when calling QCoreApplication::quit()Tor Arne Vestbø2020-09-071-9/+22
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of QCoreApplication::quit() directly calling exit(0), which would leave QGuiApplication and client code out of the loop, we now send the Quit event, and let it pass through event delivery, before finally ending up in QCoreApplication::event(), where we call exit(0). This has the advantage that QGuiApplication can ensure all windows are closed before quitting, and if any of those windows ignore the close event the quit will be aborted. This aligns the behavior of synthetic quits via QCoreApplication::quit() with spontaneous quits from the platform via QGuiApplicationPrivate::processApplicationTermination. Clients who wish to exit the application without any event delivery or potential user interaction can call the lower level exit() function directly. [ChangeLog][QtGui] Application termination via qApp->quit() will now deliver Quit events to the application, which in turn will result in application windows being closed as part of the application quit, with an option to cancel the application quit by ignoring the close event. Clients who explicitly want to exit the application without any user interaction should call QCoreApplication::exit() explicitly. | * Make QObjectPrivate::threadData a proper atomicGiuseppe D'Angelo2019-11-131-56/+56
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | QObjectPrivate::threadData used to be a QThreadData *, and was read and written from multiple threads without proper synchronization. As an example, it was read from QCoreApplication::postEvent and written from QObject::moveToThread, therefore causing UB. Port threadData to a proper atomic, removing the races. Fix all usage points. In general, QObject is documented to be simply reentrant, not thread-safe, and certain bits (e.g. timers, moveToThread) are not even reentrant. The reasoning therefore is that a given QObject's threadData is not supposed to be touched by multiple threads without some synchronization happening elsewhere, and therefore relaxed loads should be sufficient. As drive-by change: refactor QCoreApplication::postEvent. It was particularly subtle, because it had a loop using a volatile to cope with the possibility of the receiver object switching thread while we tried to lock its thread's event queue. However, volatile does not achieve any synchronization, so drop it, and refactor the algorithm using better locking primitives. Put this algorithm in a common place, and also reuse it from removePostedEvents, which was lacking any synchronization. The unforeseen consequence of this was that the plugin loader for plugins/platforms would now find it, whereas before it would be ignored. It would therefore be detected as the appropriate plugin, but since it was intended to be loaded as a static plugin, loading it dynamically would fail. Instead of fixing the static plugin loading, we remove this hack. This is easily fixed by splitting libraryPaths() into public libraryPaths() and private libraryPathsLocked(), the latter expecting to be called with the libraryPathMutex already held. And this is what this patch does. However, on second glance, the building of the initial app_libpaths calls a monstrous amount of code, incl. QLibraryInfo, and some of that code probably re-enters one of the library-path functions. So while this patch is a step towards making libraryPathMutex non-recursive, it's probably not the end. | |_|/ |/| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The old code used the implicit conversions from QAtomicPointer<T> to T* and vice versa. The semantics of these differ from the ones std::atomic uses, so we're going to deprecate these, like we did for load() and store(), too. This patch fixex some users of these APIs before we deprecate them. Change-Id: I0a88bb1c359392538bb64b511bfc62381a56a468 Reviewed-by: Thiago Macieira <thiago.macieira@intel.com>

WebEngine set shared open gl context on qt_call_pre_routines, so when QCoreApplicationPrivate init() runs. The most common offender is QLibrary::load, and some code using std::atomic directly. Change-Id: I07c38a3c8ed32c924ef4999e85c7e45cf48f0f6c Reviewed-by: Marc Mutz <marc.mutz@kdab.com>
