QStringView is a simple container for (const QChar*, int) and (const
char16_t*, size_t). It acts as a replacement interface type for const
QString and const QStringRef, and enables passing all kinds of
string-like types to functions otherwise expecting const QString& -
without the need to convert to QString first.
The use of this new class is guarded by a macro that enables three
levels of QStringView support:
1. offer QStringView, overload some functions taking QString with
QStringView
2. like 1, but remove all overloads of functions taking QStringRef,
leaving only the function taking QStringView. Do this only where
QStringRef overloads tradionally existed.
3. like 2, but replace functions taking QString, too.
This is done in order to measure the impact of QStringView on code
size and execution speed, and to help guide the decision of which
level to choose for Qt 6.
This first patch adds QStringView with most of its planned
constructors, but not much more than iterators and isNull()/isEmpty().
Further patches will add support for QStringView to QStringBuilder,
add QStringView overloads of functions taking QString, and add the
complete API of const QString to QStringView.
[ChangeLog][QtCore][QStringView] New class, superseding const QString
and QStringRef as function parameters, accepting a wide variety of
UTF-16 string data sources, e.g. u"string", std::u16string{,_view},
and, on Windows, L"string", std::wstring{,_view} without converting to
QString first.

PCRE1 is going towards EOL. PCRE2 is the way forward in terms
of new features, performance, and security improvements. The
APIs that QRegularExpression uses are similar so the required
modifications aren't extensive.
The biggest difference comes to JIT-compiling of the pattern.
In PCRE1, JIT-compiling did not modify the processed PCRE pattern,
but returned a new chunk of data.
This allowed multiple threads to keep matching using the same
processed data and NULL for the JIT data, until a thread
JIT-compiled and atomically set the shared JIT data to the results
of the compilation.
In PCRE2, JIT-compiling _modifies_ the processed PCRE pattern in a
way that it's thread unsafe [1]; the results of JIT-compilation
are stored somewhere inside the processed pattern.
This means the above approach cannot work -- a thread may be
matching while another one JIT-compiles, causing a data race.
While waiting for better workarounds from upstream, employ a
read/write mutex to protect the matching from JIT-compilation.
[1] https://lists.exim.org/lurker/message/20160104.105831.3cb25b39.en.html
[ChangeLog][General] QRegularExpression now requires the PCRE2
library, at least version 10.20. Support for the PCRE1 library
has been dropped. A copy of PCRE2 is shipped with Qt and will
automatically be used on those platforms which lack it.

for that, qt_help_lib.prf gains the ability to write "external module
pri" files that contain suitable information for QMAKE_USE.
these files have a bunch of limitations:
- they are not installed, because a) they are not relocatable and b) the
helper libs' headers are not installed, either
- it won't work with qmake -r, which is ok, as qt5 does not build with
qmake -r anyway
- deps are not transitive, neither at build nor at use time
the freetype, harfbuzz-ng, pcre, and png helper libs have been adjusted
accordingly, and their uses replaced with QMAKE_USE instances. this also
allowed inlining the now trivial {harfbuzz,pcrc,png}_dependency.pri
files. freetype_dependency.pri remains due to its funkiness.

Previously WinRT was using the UTC backend which fails on all platforms
for some QDateTime autotests related to timezone items. Hence switch to
the Windows implementation for WinRT as well.
However, the windows backend does query the registry heavily, which is
not supported on WinRT. Instead use the API version provided by the SDK.
Long-term we might want to switch to this version on desktop windows as
well, as direct registry access would not be required and we could
harmonize the codepaths for both platforms.

This also fixes the underlying cause of QTBUG-44039 and QTBUG-43885.
You can choose between system, qt, and no libdouble-conversion
support. If you choose "no", snprintf_l and sscanf_l will be
used.
By default, system double conversion is used if the system provides a
double-conversion library. Otherwise the bundled libdouble-conversion
is built. sscanf_l and snprintf_l are not used by default as the
planned "shortest" conversion mode to produce the shortest possible
string will give less precise results when implemented with snprintf_l.

We have established the maximum size qAllocMore can deal with in
commit 880986be2357a1f80827d038d770dc2f80300201 and we should use
it.
The maximum size for byte arrays is reduced by one byte as with
the previous code we could make qAllocMore produce ((1 << 31) - extra)
by passing (1 << 30). That is not a problem for qAllocMore itself
(as long as extra > 0) but it's hard to verify that no related
code casts the total sum back to signed int, which would overflow
to -1.
To make the compiler inline access to the maximum size, a private
enum MaxByteArraySize is provided, which can be used in internal
code.
This fixes the merge of commits

QTimeZone on a unix-based system expects IANA (Olson) timezones to be
provided in /usr/share/zoneinfo or /usr/lib/zoneinfo. But on an
Android system the timezone datafiles at this location are incomplete
(Android instead uses the java class java.util.TimeZone). QTimeZone on
Android therefore would only return the default UTC timezones, not the
full set of IANA timezones.
This patch invokes JNI on an Android system to make the full set of
java timezones known to QTimeZone.
The implementation adds a new QAndroidTimeZonePrivate class, invoked
by the private implementation of QTimeZone in place of
QTzTimeZonePrivate. QAndroidTimeZonePrivate contains adds a new
QJNIObjectPrivate [java.util.TimeZone] androidTimeZone property which
is used to access the java timezone API.
Android limitations:
1) the java class java.util.TimeZone does not provide transitions
(see http://developer.android.com/reference/java/util/TimeZone.html).
2) abbreviation( ) is provided using Java TimeZone::getDisplayName( )
with the java SHORT style. This sometimes generates a GMT reference
instead of a three-letter code, e.g. America/Sao_Paulo returns
"GMT-03:00" instead of "BRT"
3) hasDaylightTime() is handled using Java
TimeZone::useDaylightTime(), which according to java (Android)
documentation only tests for future transitions, not past transitions.
This might conflict with the Qt documentation for this function (which
is intended to test also for past transitions).
[ChangeLog][Platform Specific Changes][Android][QtCore][QTimeZone]
Android timezones are now available in QTimeZone.

As a side effect, QString::simplified() will always return a detached
copy, even if it's the same contents.
QStringRef::trimmed() can use the same calculation algorithm but can't
use the trimmed_helper() template function due to its lack of a
constructor taking begin pointer and size (std::string_view could do
it). That constructor can't be added because QStringRef always refers to
an existing QString, not to data in memory.

Per Oswald's suggestion, just don't touch PCRE if it's not needed.
This can save ~500kB between text and data in QtCore.

For dynamic builds of ICU, libicudata is an implicit dependency. Anyhow,
it doesn't harm to explicitly link against it, either. So let's do
this everywhere ...
