For some use cases, vertical subpixel positioning may be
useful, as it allows you to vertically align text with
other painting primitives. This does impose an overhead,
so we make it opt-int with a render hint on the painter.
Note that this is only supported on Freetype currently.
It might be possible to support on older macOS versions,
prior to Mojave (which has disabled subpixel positioning
entirely), but since it would have limited usefulness
and Freetype is cross-platform anyway, I skipped that.
Note: This drive-by-fixes an issue with subpixel
positioning where glyphs would always be offset by 1/64,
because we added the aliasing offset *after* we had
determined the closest subpixel position. The idea of
this, as far as I can understand, is rather to snap to
nearest subpixel position upwards, not to add an offset
to all glyphs, so it should be added before finding the
correct position. It had a subtle visual effect when
animating the position. It might be that we could get
rid of it entirely, as I haven't been able to reproduce
any issues with that, but I have moved it instead, to
match what I believe the intention was.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][Text] Added render hint flag
QPainter::VerticalSubpixelPositioning which will position
text at subpixel positions vertically whenever supported.
In absence of this, text position will be rounded
vertically as before.

At the moment we have two main strategies for dealing with move
assignment in Qt:
1) move-and-swap, used by "containers" (in the broad sense): containers,
but also smart pointers and similar classes that can hold user-defined
types;
2) pure swap, used by containers that hold only memory (e.g. QString,
QByteArray, ...) as well as most implicitly shared datatypes.
Given the fact that a move assignment operator's code is just
boilerplate (whether it's move-and-swap or pure swap), provide two
_strictly internal_ macros to help write them, and apply the macros
across corelib and gui, porting away from the hand-rolled
implementations.
The rule of thumb when porting to the new macros is:
* Try to stick to the existing code behavior, unless broken
* if changing, then follow this checklist:
* if the class does not have a move constructor => pure swap
(but consider ADDING a move constructor, if possible!)
* if the class does have a move constructor, try to follow the
criteria above, namely:
* if the class holds only memory, pure swap;
* if the class may hold anything else but memory (file handles,
etc.), then move and swap.
Noteworthy details:
* some operators planned to be removed in Qt 6 were not ported;
* as drive-by, some move constructors were simplified to be using
qExchange(); others were outright broken and got fixed;
* some contained some more interesting code and were not touched.

We used chars for the width and height of glyphs when caching
them in the Freetype engine. This was okay for Qt Widgets because
we would fall back to QPainterPath when the fonts were too big
anyway (though this has since become configurable).
But in Qt Quick, when NativeRendering is in use, we will always cache
glyphs, because they need to be uploaded to the GPU. Also 255 is
no longer a large font size with current screen sizes, so we need to
upgrade our maximum. The new maximum size is 65535x65535.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][Text] Fixed a bug where glyphs would be clipped
at very large sizes.

Add a helper function so that we have a shortcut.
Instead of writing:
QHashCombine hash;
seed = hash(seed, fieldA);
seed = hash(seed, fieldB);
// etc.
return seed;
one can now simply write:
return qHashMulti(seed, fieldA, fieldB, fieldC);
Port a few usages inside qtbase as a demonstration.
[ChangeLog][QtCore][QHash] Added the qHashMulti and
qHashMultiCommutative functions as convenience helpers
to calculate a hash from multiple variables (typically,
data members of a class).

For fonts with embedded bitmaps, we cannot trust the HHEA and
OS/2 tables, since there are a different set of font metrics
in the EBLC/CBLC tables for each of the predefined bitmap
sizes.
In this case, we can safely fall back to the metrics returned
by the system, as the inconsistency we were originally fixing
was only between OS/2 and HHEA and will not matter for the
bitmap fonts.
This patch also simplifies the code path through the font
engines a bit. Instead of setting the system metrics in the
processHheaTable() function when the table cannot be found,
we instead always fetch the system metrics at the very start
of initializeHeightMetrics() and then override if there are
no embedded bitmaps, and if the HHEA and OS/2 tables are
available. This also reduces the number of virtual functions
needed to sort out the height metrics.

Qt assumes that ascent+descent is the bounding height of the
text, but for historical reasons, the ascent for some fonts
will not contain the diacritics. On Windows, the preference
is to use data from the OS/2 table which were explicitly
invented to work around this, but on other platforms we
are not respecting this table. This causes a text layout
that looks fine on Windows to have overlapping characters
on e.g. macOS.
To make vertical metrics (ascent, descent, leading) consistent
across all platforms, we don't blindly trust the values we get
from the underlying font system, but apply in the following order:
1. If OS/2 table exists and USE_TYPO_METRICS flag is set, we
use the typo metrics from OS/2 table
2. If OS/2 table exists and USE_TYPO_METRICS flag is not set,
we use winAscent/winDescent from OS/2 and the line gap from
HHEA table.
3. If no OS/2 table exists, we try to get ascent, descent and
line gap from the HHEA table.
4. If the HHEA table does not exist (not an SFNT), we fall back
to the system-provided metrics. (on macOS, we know the
system-provided metrics will match the data in HHEA, so we
skip parsing that table and use the data from CoreText if
there is no OS/2 table).

Simply return a Glyph pointer and not a QImage to avoid allocating and
deleting lots of d pointers for QImage when drawing text. Saves one
new/delete pair per glyph drawn and speeds up text drawing by 10% for
relatively large glyphs (probably more for smaller ones).
The qtext::paintLayoutToPixmap() benchmark shows a 16% improvement
in performance with this change.
Renamed the method to glyphData().

Color fonts may also contain regular alphabet characters that
should be rendered with the current pen. In Qt, however, these
characters were drawn into the cache with a default pen color
of black.
Since all characters in a font is currently backed by the same cache,
and it would require a lot of plumbing to get around this, a step
in the right direction is to include the current pen color in the
cache as long as it is an RGB cache. This means that drawing
text with the color font with different pen colors will create
different caches.
There is no API to select font color on Freetype currently, but
this problem has also not been observed there, as the fonts
in question, with both regular and color glyphs, are not being
detected as color fonts (so the text color will be correct).
So Freetype will be left out for now.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][Text] Fixed bug where regular text rendered
with a color font would always display in black.

In the past, we had an undocumented text flag that worked with
one of the QPainter::drawText() overloads. This was never intended
as public API and served a specific cause in Qt WebKit at one point.
But there is a general need for such API, as disabling shaping features
easily gives 25% performance improvement on text rendering even for
fairly short strings.
This patch adds a new style strategy flag to disable shaping and
will just uses the CMAP and HDMX tables to get glyph indices and advances
for the characters. In Qt 6, the TextBypassShaping flag can be removed
completely and be replaced by the style strategy.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][Text] Added QFont::PreferNoShaping style strategy to support
improvements to performance at the expense of some cosmetic font features.

The limitation of four glyph caches per font engine was to prevent memory
spikes during rotation of text. But in an application with multiple top
level OpenGL windows, each with their own context, we'd end up trashing
the list of glyph caches during rendering, even if each window just drew
the same static text.
Having a shared context between the windows helped a bit, but had other
performance issues due to the globally shared state, so the better approach
is to limit the caches to four per context.
This brings the multiwindow manual test from a grinding 4fps on macOS
to a smooth 60fps for 20 concurrent windows.

The new modular configuration system requires one global
header per module, that is included by all other files in
this module.
A similar scheme and naming convention is already being used
for many other modules (e.g. printsupport, qml, quick).
That header will later on #include the configuration file
for Qt Gui. For now it defines the Q_GUI_EXPORT macro for
this library.
In addition, add a private global header, qtguiglobal_p.h,
that can later on include the private config header for
Qt Gui for things we don't want to export to the world.

Both QFont::handle() and QFont::freetypeFace() used to
be available in Qt 4 but were removed in Qt 5. There's
currently no API to get access to the native font handle,
which the font engine holds in a way or another.
Similar to the way it was in Qt 4, the actual handle type
depends on the font engine currently in use. The types map
as follows:
Font Engine Native Handle
------------------------------------
DirectWrite IDWriteFontFace *
Freetype FT_Face
Mac CTFontRef
Win HFONT
All other font engines return a null handle.

Wrap the pairs of (void *ptr, void (*dtor)(void*)) in essentially
a std::unique_ptr. This simplifies code and provides the correct
implicit destruction, so we can drop the explicit glyph-cache
clear()ing in ~QFontEngine(), leaving that job to ~QLinkedList.
A subsequent change will turn the QLinkedList into a C array, the
clearing of which would otherwise cause excessive code bloat.
Since we can't use std::unique_ptr, yet, provide a hand-rolled
replacement for now, marking it for replacement with unique_ptr
once we can use it. Make that a local type instead of providing
a Qt-wide unique_ptr so we don't accidentally lock ourselves into
a half-baked std clone we can't get rid of anymore.
To prepare unique_ptr use with the same type-erased deleter
(function pointer) as now, replace a nullptr destroy_function
with a no-op function, so ~unique_ptr doesn't crash when we
port to it later.
Because QFreetypeFace contains the same construct and shares
payloads with QFontEngine, use the Holder there, too.
Even saves 150b in text size on optimized GCC 5.3 AMD64 builds.

These are already held in QVectors.
Public API types need to wait until Qt 6, for BC reasons. Even
though Q_RELOCATABLE_TYPE deals with most of them, we lack a way
to mark a type as primitive, but still isStatic - for QList.

The logic used in the FreeType font engine can be generalized
and move to the QFontEngine baseclass. This allows the CoreText
font engine to correctly report the minimum left/right bearings,
which decreases the chance that an optimization in QTextLayout's
line breaking algorithm will produce wrong results.
The calculation of left and right bearing has been moved to the
glyph_metrics_t type to reduce code duplication. This allows us
to use the with and height of the bounding box to determine if
the glyph has any contours.

Specifically when reading files with broken cmap tables, we could
get some undeterministic results. We handle this more gracefully
by verifying that the offsets are sane and bailing out early if not.
This replaces the current pattern throughout the font engine for
consistency.

There were two problems:
1. qHash() hashed FaceId::uuid, but op== didn't use it for
determining equality. Thus, x == y => qHash(x) == qHash(y)
might be broken if fileName and uuid have an orthogonal
component, if you excuse my vector analogy.
2. To hash fileName and uuid, it concatenated the two,
causing a temporary QByteArray to be created just for
hashing its contents. That prevented marking qHash()
as nothrow.
Fix by using new QtPrivate::QHashCombine and adding
uuid to the list of fields compared in op==.

We should have more font weights in QFont::Weight to allow for
finer grained control.
For the time being, we can simply use intermediate weights to better
support the different font weights falling in between the ones
defined in QFont::Weight.
Also amend the documentation to clarify the fact that QFont supports
and can return weights falling outside the predefined values, which
is already the case (e.g. when using fontconfig).
