| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The current code only tries to load the required functions from LIBRESOLV_SO (if defined) and resolv, but on FreeBSD they are in libc: https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=res_query&sektion=3&apropos=0&manpath=freebsd This commit changes the code so that, after failing to load the non-existent libraries, it attempts to load the functions with dlsym() using the special handle RTLD_DEFAULT, which searches for the specified symbol in the loaded libraries. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When the response from res_nquery is too big for the buffer used to receive it (of size PACKETSZ, a mere 512 bytes), the returned responseLength is the size of the data that would have been delivered, had there been enough space. Trying to process all of the data, including what wasn't delivered, leads to reading past the end of the buffer, which either causes a crash or leads to rubbish (from the stack) in the resulting QDnsRecords. Easy to reproduce using many long TXT records. Replace the array with a QVarLengthArray; when the response is big, resize() and retry, so as to actually get all of the data, so that we can process it all. A follow-up patch will fix the case when even the second call/resize buffer is not enough and we have to use TCP. We also QT_REQUIRE_CONFIG(library) in the library headers and exclude the sources from the build if library loading is disabled. This, in turn, makes it necessary to clean up some header inclusions. On the Linux platform, we can specify both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for the nameserver. On Windows since we are using DnsQuery_W(), which does not have a way of accepting IPv6 addresses, passing IPv6 nameserver address is not supported. On OSX/BSD platforms, specifying IPv6 addresses for nameserver require access to the __res_state_ext structure which is in a private header of libresolv (this header is different for BSDs and OSX). If this feature has to be enabled in the future, we have to figure out a way to access this struct by either accessing the private header or by specifying one of our own. Currently, I'm disabling it till such a solution is arrived at.
