Until we can properly fix QPalette and QMacStyle,
we should disable dark appearance in Qt applications.
Disable by setting NSApp.appearance to Aqua, unless
dark mode support has been requested via Info.plist
or environment variable.
Read the NSRequiresAquaSystemAppearance Info.plist
key, don’t set NSApp.appearance if its value is false.
Also check the QT_MAC_REQUIRES_AQUA_SYSTEM_APPEARANCE
environment variable and apply similar logic. You then
enable dark mode support by setting:
QT_MAC_REQUIRES_AQUA_SYSTEM_APPEARANCE=0
which is slightly awkward, but matches Info.plist
behavior.

We only need the QVariant native handle when creating the context, so
there's no need for a getter, and we then rename the NSOpenGLContext
getter to match e.g. QCocoaScreen::nativeScreen().

Add support for QSurface::VulkanSurface and QVulkanWindow.
Usage:
1) Build MoltenVK according to instructions
2) Configure Qt: ./configure -I /path/to/MoltenVK/Package/Release/MoltenVK/include
3) export QT_VULKAN_LIB=/path/to/MoltenVK/Package/Release/MoltenVK/macOS/libMoltenVK.
Implement support for QSurface::VulkanSurface by enabling
layer mode for QNSView and then creating a CAMetalLayer,
which the MoltenVK translation layer can run on.
MoltenVK provides an implementation of the Vulcan API,
which means that the platform integration is similar
to other platforms: implement a QCocoaVulkanInstance
where we pass the QNSView instance to the vkCreateMacOSSurfaceMVK
Vulkan surface constructor function.
Using Vulkan directly without QVulkanWindow is possible, but not
tested.
We currently load libMoltenVK at run-time and use the
existing QT_VULKAN_LIB environment variable to set its
path. For deployment purposes it would be better to
link against MoltenVK.frameworkm, but this

There are three ways to set the application (Dock/task switcher) icon:
1. By setting an ICON in the project file
2. By calling QGuiApplication::setWindowIcon
3. By calling QWindow::setIcon
The third one was not working on macOS, despite being documented as
such: "The window icon might be used by the windowing system for example
to decorate the window, and/or in the task switcher."
We now update the application icon based on the active window,
unless a global application icon has been set using ICON, or
via QGuiApplication::setWindowIcon. The reason for not allowing
the window's icon to override a global application icon is that
the developer may have intended to set the document icon for a
window (to represent QWindow::filePath), and we don't want that
to affect the Dock icon of the application.
The role of QGuiApplication::setWindowIcon is a bit dubious in this,
as it's documented as "This property holds the default window icon",
which would indicate it should follow the same logic as above by not
letting it override the global ICON set in the project file, but this
would not allow runtime switching of the application icon, so the
QGuiApplication property is left as is. The property should probably
have been named QGuiApplication::applicationIcon initially.

means there's no reason to allocate an NSView and corresponding NSWindow
just for that. In the offscreen case the NSOpenGLContext has a nil-view.

By sharing the implementations of the methods between QNSWindow and
QNSPanel we don't need a helper, and can remove duplicated code. This
duplication would expand in the future, as for each method added to
the QNSWindowProtocol, we would have to add forwarding functions
in both QNSWindow and QNSPanel, forwarding to QNSWindowHelper, and
then two more functions in QNSWindow and QNSPanel in case we wanted
to call super from the helper, similar to [QNSWindow superSendEvent].
The only snag is that calls to super are hard-coded to a specific
superclass during complication, so we provide our wrapper for
objc_msgSendSuper that resolves the superclass at runtime.
The helper class QSendSuperHelper provides compile time implicit
instantiation of the right template without having to provide
the return type as a template argument, via operator T and
a fallback for the case of no return type via the destructor.

is the coordinate system of the window position.
1) Child QWindow and embedded QWindow:
The position is relative to parent view/window origin.
2) Top-level QWindow:
The position is relative to screen origin.

The platform plugins reading this out of the QWindow was a layering
violation, and propagates the notion that a window can shape shift
into representing a new native handle, while none of the platform
plugins support this.
A foreign QWindow is created via the factory function fromWinId(),
at which point we can pass the WId all the way to the platform
plugin as function arguments, where the platform will create a
corresponding platform-window.
The platform window can then answer the question of whether or
not it's representing a foreign window, which determines a few
behavioral changes here and there, as well as supplying the
native window handle back for QWindow::winId();
[ChangeLog][QtGui][QWindow] The "_q_foreignWinId" dynamic property
is no longer set nor read.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][QPA] The function createForeignWindow() has been
added to QPlatormIntegration and is now responsible for creating
foreign windows. The function isForeignWindow() in QPlatformWindow
has been added, and platforms should implement this to return true
for windows created by createForeignWindow().

Previously, we would activate the application during
QCocoaIntegration construction, which means at QApplication
creation time. This now seems to interfere with application
startup on macOS Sierra, where the application window
ends up in an unfocused state.
Move application activation to applicationDidFinishLaunching,
at which point the Cocoa runtime should be completely
initialized. Do this for 10.12+ only to avoid regressions/
test failures on previous versions.

The assumption that the primary screen is the only one whose available
geometry differs from its full geometry no longer holds, so we need to
compute the available geometry for all screens.
Helpers methods for flipping between coordinates have been introduced
in QCocoaScreen, to make flipping possible relative to a specific
screen, and for exposing similar functionality in the future for
QScreen. The corresponding functions in qcocoahelpers.mm should
possibly be deprecated in favor of being explicit about which
screen is doing the mapping.

The default should be false, meaning the application will prefer to
use a native menubar if the platform supports it. The application
author can set it to true if he wants to always use a Qt-rendered
menubar instead; or, he can call QMenuBar::setNativeMenuBar().
Qt and its plugins should not override the author's wishes.
Instead, if the platform plugin cannot create a native menubar
for whatever reason, createPlatformMenuBar() will return null,
and QMenuBar will fall back to using a Qt menubar instead.
The application can check the result via QMenuBar::isNativeMenuBar().
QMdiArea when maximized inside a QMainWindow with an empty title
does not replace the main window's title if we are using native menus.
This behavior turned out to be the same on Unity as it is on macOS,
so the autotest needed adjustment to expect that behavior whenever
the menubar is native, not only on certain platforms.
tst_QMenuBar::allowActiveAndDisabled() tests a standalone QMenuBar.
In f92f78094 it was disabled on macOS, but on Ubuntu it passes as
long as we force it to be a non-native menubar, so it should pass
that way on macOS too. Removed unused variable RESET to fix warning.

In some auto-tests, we create several instances of
QGuiApplication (though seldom, if ever, simultaneously).
However, the QCocoaMenuLoader instance was never properly
deallocated, resulting in NSApplication.servicesMenu
to still be assigned. This resulted in an exception being
raised (NSInternalInconsistencyException) the second time
we would construct a QCocoaMenuLoader.
The CPU cycles saving solution is to make QCocoaMenuLoader
a singleton. This approach is also safe since this class'
initialization doesn't depend on any state in QGuiApplication
(even the application name is fetched from either the main
bundle or the app's args).
This also allows us to clean up some code in QCocoaApplication
and QCocoaApplicationDelegate who have suffered from lack of
attention over the years.

Later versions of OS X allow you to auto-hide the menu bar, which should
free up 22 pixels vertically at the top of the screen in the available
geometry. Due to how the NSScreens are invalidated (asynchronously), we
pick up this geometry change too late, resulting in QWindows maximizing
as if the menu bar was still there.
To work around this we explicitly tell the system to apply the default
presentation options before initializing the QScreen properties, which
results in the NSScreen being invalidated synchronously and having the
right available geometry.

The synthesis of mouse events for unhandled tablet events is now in
cross-platform code, so the platform plugins don't need to do it.

Maintain virtual siblings list on screen deletion.
QCocoaIntegration::updateScreens() has a loop which
will delete all non-current QScreen objects using
QPlatformIntegration::destroyScreen().
destroyScreen() vill eventually call QWindowPrivate::
setTopLevelScreen() which accesses the virtual siblings
list for the deleted screen.
This can cause a stale pointer access if the virtual
screen list is not up to date, especially when disconnecting
two screens at the same time.
