If the QEvent::GraphicsSceneMousePress case falls through, it does so
because d->hasDecoration() == false or the virtual call to
windowFrameEvent() returned false.
It falls through to the case for QEvent::GraphicsSceneMouseMove, etc,
which ensures d->windowData and then checks hasDecoration() again,
with some other conditions on top, and calls the same virtual
function, windowFrameEvent(), with the same arguments again.
Now, it could, theoretically, be possible that that second call would,
due to the presence of a windowData that wasn't there before, return
true when before it did return false. But the only modification to
*this between the calls to windowFrameEvent() is the potential
allocation of d->windowData, which, if actually effected, will have
d->windowData->grabbedSection == Qt::NoSection, hence
windowFrameEvent() won't even be called a second time
It is therefore safe to assume that a break was intended here, so add
it.
Discovered independently be GCC 7 and Coverity.

Commit c5db8fc74 changed all instances of Q_WS_FOO to have the prefix
Q_DEAD_CODE_FROM_QT4 instead, to make it clearer when reading the code
that the code in question was a left-over from Qt4, when we used
Q_WS_ defines instead of Q_OS_ defines.
This worked well for cases of #ifdef Q_DEAD_CODE_FROM_QT4, but less so
for cases of #ifndef Q_DEAD_CODE_FROM_QT4, where the code was actually
unconditionally included.
To make this even clearer, the defines have been replaced by checks for
1 or 0, with a comment describing how the code used to look in Qt4. The
use of constants in the check also makes it easier for editors to parse
the condition and show visually that the code is defined out.

Fix by moving the setParentItem(nullptr) call up the call stack
into ~QGraphicsWidget(), ensuring that the object is still a
QGraphicsWidget when these calls are made.

This needs to be handled a bit carefully, because Qt containers
will detach upon being iterated over using range-for.
In the cases of this patch, that trivially cannot happen, because
all containers are marked as const when being assigned the rvalues
previously found on the rhs of the Q_FOREACH. The new code thus
does exactly what the old code did: take a const copy, then iterate
over it.
Separate patches will deal with other situations.
Range-for loops are much more efficient than foreach loops.
This patch shaves almost 4K of text size off an optimized Linux
AMD64 GCC 4.9 build.

The printf-style version of QDebug expands to a lot less code than the
std::ostream-style version. Of course, you pay in type safety (but
compilers warn about it these days), you cannot stream complex Qt
types and streaming QStrings is awkward, but in many cases you
actually improve on readability.
But the main reason is that something that's not supposed to be
executed under normal operation has no business bloating executable
code size.
This is not an attempt at converting all qWarnings() to printf-style,
only the low-hanging fruit.
In this first part, replace
qWarning() << "...";
with
qWarning("...");

We still have a bunch of Q_WS_ ifdefs in our code, which are easy to
mistake for Q_OS_ ifdefs when quickly scanning the code. By renaming
the ifdefs we make it clear that the code in question is dead.
In incremental follow-ups, we can then selectively either remove, or
port, the pieces that are dead code.

There's a lot of code now requiring it. Any compiler that doesn't
support the keyword is too old for Qt now. The last time anyone asked
about this macro was for QTBUG-27393 and we don't know which compiler
that was.
As a necessity, this patch contains a reversal of
a0c3a57aed5cde37017733e7cf5e41cc6a1174aa
[ChangeLog][Compiler Specific Changes] Qt 5.5 now unconditionally uses
the "using" keyword. Compilers that do not support this keyword are
deprecated and will not be able to build Qt. Previous versions of Qt may
or may not compile, as no testing was done to ensure it worked.

According to documentation hoverLeaveEvent calls update(), which happens
in QGraphicsItem. As QGraphicsWidget has not been calling parent
implementation that did not happen and e.g. animatedtiles example did
not work correctly.

Certain QStyle code paths expect the style object to be set. This will
avoid problems when QGraphicsItems/Widgets utilize QStyle for drawing.
Even if things will not necessarily animate properly, such legacy code
won't cause a crash at least.

Use the Qt4CompatiblePainting render hint when painting with QPainter to
treat default constructed QPens as cosmetic still.
The NonCosmeticDefaultPen render hint gets documented as obsolete, since
it was in any case not respected by the raster nor OpenGL paint engine.

The event will be sent from the upcoming style animations. This change
merely introduces the new event type and makes both QWidget and
QGraphicsWidget call update() upon receiving the event.

Casper meant that Jerome was working on that, so I'll leave

QWorkspace had been called Q3Workspace before Qt4.0 finally released.
In a sense, it is a Qt3 support Widget. And QWorkspace has been
deprecated and replaced by QMdiArea at Qt4.3.

Changes various internal usages of QMap when the key is a pointer type.
Being ordered by the pointer value itself, it makes very little sense
to use QMap<K*, V> (esp. in cases where the key is actually allocated
on the heap).
The usages have been found with the following script:
#!/usr/bin/perl
use strict;
use warnings;
use Regexp::Common;
use File::Find;
use feature ':5.10';
my $container = qr/(?:QMap)/;
sub process {
return unless (-f and -r and /(\.c|\.cpp|\.h|\.txt)$/);
open my $fh, "<", $_ or die "Cannot open $_: $!";
while (my $line = <$fh>) {
chomp $line;
while ($line =~ /($container\s*$RE{balanced}{-parens=>"<>"})/g) {
my $tmp = $1;
$tmp =~ s/\s+//g;
say "$_:$.: $line" if $tmp =~ /^$container\s*<[^,]+\*,/;
}
}
close $fh;
}
find( { no_chdir => 1, wanted => \&process }, @ARGV );
