This assumes that QGuiApplication::screen and QWidget::screen never return nullptr, which is already assumed in other places. In QSplashScreen, simplify the code to operate on the screen of the QSplashScreen itself. Remove the case that handles a QDesktopWidget parent - QSplashScreen doesn't have a constructor that takes a QWidget* parent anymore. In the QEffect implementation, we can rely on the widget pointer not being nullptr (it's tested in the free functions client code uses). Includes a few drive-by changes to coding style and logic in qtooltip.cpp, where the tip label placement now prefers the screen of the widget the label is created for, and uses the position only as a fallback. What remains is the special handling of QDesktopWidget and the Qt::Desktop type in QWidget and QApplication. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove QDestopWidget public header, simplify the implementation that maintains a Qt::Desktop type QWidget for each QScreen, and turn QWidget's initial target screen into a QScreen pointer. QApplication::desktop() now takes an optional QScreen pointer, and returns a QWidget pointer, so that applications and widgets can get access to the root widget for a specific screen without having to resort to private APIs. QDesktopWidgetPrivate implementations to look up a screen for an index, widget, or point are now all inline functions that thinly wrap QGuiApplication::screens/screenAt calls. We should consider adding those as convenience APIs to QScreen instead. Note that QWidget::screen is assumed to return a valid pointer; there is code that handles the case that it returns nullptr (but also code that trusts that it never is nullptr), so this needs to be defined, verified with tests, and asserted. We can then simplify the code further. In that case, checkable items were not supported; the QComboBox didn't pass the checked state correctly to the style, and the delegate used for rendering the items into the list view did not implement modifying the checked state of the item. However, the QStyleOptionMenuItem's checked state and checkType members were set anyway, as on e.g. macOS style we use a checkmark to show which item is currently selected in the combobox. The QStyle::State enum defines State_On and State_Off for toggleable things, so in addition to setting QStyleOptionMenuItem::checked, we are now also adding State_On or State_Off if the model provides a valid checked/unchecked state. Otherwise, we only set the checked state if the item is currently selected. In addition, we implement the delegate to support toggling of checkable model data with mouse and keyboard, using a simplified version of the QItemDelegate implementation. To avoid spurious item toggles when the popup is opened, we only handle mouse releases when the press was on the same row. In the fusion style, we ignore the workaround to let QtQuickControls render comboboxes if State_On or State_Off are set. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In Qt 5.0, delta() and orientation() were already marked obsolete, but Widgets and tests have kept on depending on them all this time. We now start using alternative API so they can really be deprecated. All constructors except the newest one are also deprecated. The plan is for all events from pointing devices to have QPointF position() and globalPosition(), so we deprecate the other position accessors. [ChangeLog][QtGui] Obsolete constructors and accessors in QWheelEvent now have proper deprecation macros. What is left is intended to be compatible with planned changes in Qt 6.
