Although it's permitted to specify the project name together with
a version number for \since, it's unnecessary for Qt classes and
functions.
This change also normalizes the version formatting: '<major>.<minor>'

Fail to take into account vertical tabs led to that vertical tabs were
displayed wrong in some cases (for example, QMovableTabWidget was
one pixel shorter than it should be).

Originally on macOS it would override any tab text color with white
for the active tab as it would set it directly on the option palette
inside the style code. This would cause it to ignore any changes done
by the user in a changed option, via setTabTextColor or in a proxy
style. Therefore the setting of the color should be done when the style
option is initialized and only if the tab text color has not been
set by the user.
This has the added effect of making it easier to change the color for
tabs via a stylesheet since it will not be overridden in the style but
setup correctly in the option instead.

Commit c5db8fc74 changed all instances of Q_WS_FOO to have the prefix
Q_DEAD_CODE_FROM_QT4 instead, to make it clearer when reading the code
that the code in question was a left-over from Qt4, when we used
Q_WS_ defines instead of Q_OS_ defines.
This worked well for cases of #ifdef Q_DEAD_CODE_FROM_QT4, but less so
for cases of #ifndef Q_DEAD_CODE_FROM_QT4, where the code was actually
unconditionally included.
To make this even clearer, the defines have been replaced by checks for
1 or 0, with a comment describing how the code used to look in Qt4. The
use of constants in the check also makes it easier for editors to parse
the condition and show visually that the code is defined out.

When you would start to drag a tab, and then drag it in the other
direction along the point where you started the drag, the tab would fail
to follow the mouse for a distance twice the "startDragDistance", before
jumping to the mouse again.
Fixed this by only taking into account the "startDragDistance" when
checking whether a drag is started, and to rely on the "dragInProgress"
variable otherwise.

As of version 10.12 (Sierra), the name of Apple's desktop operating
system will be macOS. Change the occurrences where the Mac platform
is discussed to use a macro \macos, which expands to 'macOS'. This
helps with adapting to future renaming.
Update the instructions on mac-specific Q_OS_* macro usage.
Add a \target for the old 'Qt for OS X' topic to keep links working
for other documentation modules that try to link with the old name.

The first part adds QTabBarPrivate::initBasicStyleOption()
which is basically QTabBar::initStyleOption() but
without the expensive QFontMetrics::elidedText() call.
That is because QTabBar::tabSizeHint() would call
initStyleOption() and then immediately discard the result
of that computation.
Then, QTabBar::tabSizeHint() is modified to cache the calls
to QFontMetrics::size(), which is also expensive. The cache
is invalidated when the style or the font changes, or when
the elide mode is set.

Moving tabs of a QTabBar goes through a temporary QWidget that
captures a "screenshot" of the tab, and then gets moved around.
Unfortunately, that screenshot was not using the devicePixelRatio,
resulting in blurry text and icons. For some reason, setting
the DPR on the pixmap isn't enough -- that causes it to be
drawn twice as big (bug somewhere in Qt styles?).
Work around that by not using the palette, but a simple widget
which draws the pixmap (which also leads to somehow clean code).

util, widgets]
The algorithm used was:
- If possible, just declare the container const
- Otherwise, for first()/last(), use constFirst()/constLast()
and for front()/back(), to not destroy the use of the STL
API subset, use qAsConst()
Did some caching of function returns here and there, and
converted one 0 to nullptr as a drive-by.
Also saves almost 4KiB in text size on optimized GCC 4.9
Linux AMD64 builds.

If a tab bar contain more tabs than it can fit inside its geometry, it
will show two scroll buttons that lets the user scroll left or right.
From before, those buttons where hard coded to always be placed
together on the right side of the tab bar.
This patch will make it possible for the style to specify the exact
geometry of both scroll buttons. The reason for this is that 3rd party
styles has a specific need to place the "scroll left" button on the left
side, and the "scroll right" on the right side. Additionally, there is a
need to draw fade-out effects on tabs that end up half-way obscured by the
buttons. This can already be achieved by extending the tab tear concept to
include two tears/fade effects, one for each side of the tab bar.
Previous code in QTabBar that hard-coded scroll buttons and related
functionality will now be factored out to the style, and the base
style (QCommonStyle) will implement the old default logic of placing the
buttons together on the right side. Six new style enums will be added:
SE_TabBarScrollLeftButton: the rect of the left scroll button
SE_TabBarScrollRightButton: the rect of the right scroll button
SE_TabBarTearIndicatorLeft: the rect of the left tab tear
SE_TabBarTearIndicatorRight: the rect of the right tab tear
PE_IndicatorTabTearLeft: draw the left tab tear
PE_IndicatorTabTearRight: draw the right tab tear

We still have a bunch of Q_WS_ ifdefs in our code, which are easy to
mistake for Q_OS_ ifdefs when quickly scanning the code. By renaming
the ifdefs we make it clear that the code in question is dead.
In incremental follow-ups, we can then selectively either remove, or
port, the pieces that are dead code.

Extend the unified title and toolbar gradient to
tabs in document mode that are adjacent unified
tool bars.
Change the updateMacBorderMetrics() function to
register the tab bar geometry and visibility status
with the Cocoa platform plugin. The Cocoa platform
plugin will then merge this area with other registered
areas if possible.
Add QCocoaNativeInterface::testContentBorderPosition().
This function tests whether the given point is within
the unified title and toolbar area.
Use testContentBorderPosition() in QMacStyle to enable
code paths that skips drawing the QToolBar bottom
separator line and paints the active tab background
with transparent pixels to make the background gradient
visible.
