* Eliminate QDateTimeParser's mutable parameters at lastEdward Welbourne2020-09-301-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I noticed that QDTP has a mutable member, text, which gets set at the end of each call to parse(); this makes all the in-out parameters redundant, since relevant methods can simply access - and modify - text, if it's set *at the start* of parse instaed. (There are no early returns to complicate matters.) This also makes StateNode::input redundant. At the same time, rename the mutable member, as several methods shadow it with parameter or local variable names; it is too generic. * Fix redundant emission of editingFinished from QLineEdit with Return keyChristian Heimlich2020-09-234-5/+16
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Current implementation of QLineEdit uses the "edited" bit-field flag to prevent unnecessary emissions of editingFinished() when a line edit loses focus but its contents have not changed since the last time the signal was emitted; however, this flag is only cleared when the signal is fired due to focus loss and not when the Return/Enter key is pressed. This causes an unexpected double emission of the signal when focus is lost following a press of the Return/Enter key if the line edit's text was not further altered between the two actions. This change includes the Return/Enter press as a trigger for clearing the "edited" flag to make editingFinished()'s behavior more consistent and expected. Prevents slots in user code from triggering twice in situations where the line edit's current contents have already been handled, but still allows the end-user to force an emission of the signal via Return/Enter. The effect of the "edited" flag on the signals behavior has also been noted in the signal description as it was previously omitted. [ChangeLog][QtWidgets][QLineEdit][Behavior Change] Pressing the Return/Enter key in a QLineEdit will now also prevent editingFinished() from firing due to focus loss if the contents of the line edit have not changed since the last time the signal was emitted. * QAbstractSpinBox: don't emit update signals twiceRichard Moe Gustavsen2020-09-121-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A QAbstractSpinBox has a spinClickThresholdTimer that is detecting if the user is doing a press'n'hold on one of the spin buttons, to activate auto-repeat. But if the valueChanged() handler in the application spends too much time before it returns, the spinClickThresholdTimer will fire before we get a chance to cancel it from the pending mouseRelease event. The result is that the spinbox will think that the user is doing a press'n'hold, and increment the value once more. To avoid this, we start the timer _after_ the call to valueChanged() instead. * Long live QKeyCombination!Giuseppe D'Angelo2020-09-033-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | C++20 via P1120 is deprecating arithmetic operations between unrelated enumeration types, and GCC 10 is already complaining. Hence, these operations might become illegal in C++23 or C++26 at the latest. A case of this that affects Qt is in key combinations: a QKeySequence can be constructed by summing / ORing modifiers and a key, for instance: Qt::CTRL + Qt::Key_A Qt::SHIFT | Qt::CTRL | Qt::Key_G (recommended, see below) The problem is that the modifiers and the key belong to different enumerations (and there's 2 enumerations for the modifier, and one for the key). To solve this: add a dedicated class to represent a combination of keys, and operators between those enumerations to build instances of this class. I would've simply defined operator|, but again docs and pre-existing code use operator+ as well, so added both to at least tackle simple cases (modifier + key). Multiple modifiers create a problem: operator+ between them yields int, not the corresponding flags type (because operator+ is not overloaded for this use case): Qt::CTRL + Qt::SHIFT + Qt::Key_A \__________________/ / int / \______________/ int Not only this loses track of the datatypes involved, but it would also then "add" the key (with NO warnings, now its int + enum, so it's not mixing enums!) and yielding int again. I don't want to special-case this; the point of the class is that int is the wrong datatype. Everything works just fine when using operator| instead: Qt::CTRL | Qt::SHIFT | Qt::Key_A \__________________/ / Qt::Modifiers / \______________/ QKeyCombination So I'm defining operator+ so that the simple cases still work, but also deprecating it. Port some code around Qt to the new class. In certain cases, it's a huge win for clarity. In some others, I've just added the necessary casts to make it still compile without warnings, without attempting refactorings. [ChangeLog][QtCore][QKeyCombination] New class to represent a combination of a key and zero or more modifiers, to be used when defining shortcuts or similar. [ChangeLog][Potentially Source-Incompatible Changes] A keyboard modifier (such as Qt::CTRL, Qt::AltModifier, etc.) should be combined with a key (such as Qt::Key_A, Qt::Key_F1, etc.) by using operator|, not operator+. The result is now an object of type QKeyCombination, that stores the key and the modifiers. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | viewOptions returned a QStyleOptionViewItem object. Such a method can never support newer versions of the option structure. Most styleable QWidget classes provide a virtual method initStyleOption that initializes the option object passed in as a pointer, e.g QFrame, QAbstractSpinBox, or QComboBox. Follow that API convention, but name it initViewItemOption, as the QStyleOptionViewItem struct contains information about the item as well as the widget itelf. This is a source incompatible change that will go unnoticed unless existing subclasses mark their overrides as 'override', or call the removed QAbstractItemView::viewOption virtual function. * QCalendarWidget: code tidies for the internal modelGiuseppe D'Angelo2020-07-081-31/+20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The table model inside a QCalendarWidget was violating a few QAIM principles: * returning illegal values from row/columnCount by not checking the parent index * not keeping invariants on row/column manipulation. * Refactor QTabBarPrivate::Tab and much of its usage in QTabBarVolker Hilsheimer2020-07-072-171/+187
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The type was broken in that it pretends to be a value, but didn't implement the necessary operators for save copy, move, or comparison. Tabs are supposed to be managed by Tab instance, as the crazy implementation of operator== demonstrated. Refactor the code to use it as a pointer consistently, even though this means additional allocations for each tab. This is however acceptable since there are not millions of tabs, and there is only a single place where tabs are removed from the list. Also use ranged for where possible, and never access the tabList using operator[] to avoid detaches. Use a std::unique_ptr for the animation in the tab, which implicitly protects against attempts to copy a Tab, and allows us to use the compiler generated default destructor. Add Q_DISABLE_COPY_MOVE for good measure, the compiler-generated move semantics would not work either due to the back-pointer from animation to the tab. * Remove usage of QDesktopWidget(Private) from most places in QtWidgetsVolker Hilsheimer2020-07-0715-111/+63
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Call QGuiApplication and QScreen APIs directly to get geometries, and make use of QScreen::grabWindow grabbing the screen it's called on when called with WId == 0. This assumes that QGuiApplication::screen and QWidget::screen never return nullptr, which is already assumed in other places. In QSplashScreen, simplify the code to operate on the screen of the QSplashScreen itself. Remove the case that handles a QDesktopWidget parent - QSplashScreen doesn't have a constructor that takes a QWidget* parent anymore. In the QEffect implementation, we can rely on the widget pointer not being nullptr (it's tested in the free functions client code uses). Includes a few drive-by changes to coding style and logic in qtooltip.cpp, where the tip label placement now prefers the screen of the widget the label is created for, and uses the position only as a fallback. What remains is the special handling of QDesktopWidget and the Qt::Desktop type in QWidget and QApplication.
