When writing out a float value, the output string is encoded as QVariant
for no reason. Looks like an oversight when QMetaType::Float was added a
long time ago.

Modify special case locations to use the new API as well.
Clean up some stale .prev files that are not needed anymore.
Clean up some project files that are not used anymore.

projects to use the new prefixed qt_foo APIs.

With a few special cases to make the tests pass.
Biggest one is the qlockfile_test_helper.
Also a few tests have some problems and have not been
ported yet: qfileselector, qresourceengine, qprocess.

Only qdir, qlockfile, qprocess and qresourceengine were manually
disabled, otherwise all other builds fine on linux.
