As of commit b6bf17cfd1cad7a673082e80896edec889809446, the path to the
project file can be taken from an existing build graph, which is
conceptually incompatible with the build directory placeholders feature.
Rather than silently using an unexpected build directory, we now fail if
a placeholder is used without an explicit project file path.
