| * | iOS: Add text selection support from the platform pluginRichard Moe Gustavsen2016-05-044-2/+1065
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch will add touch based text selection support to Qt from the iOS plugin. QIOSTextInputOverlay will listen to changes to the focus object, and if IM enabled, create three different gesture recognizers that tracks what the user is doing. The first recogniser detects if the user does a press and hold on the text when there is no selection. If triggered, it will show a loupe that follows the touch around together with the cursor. The second recogniser will instead be active when text is selected, and takes care of drawing a set of handles on each side of the selection. If the user drags on any of the handles, a loupe will show that follows the touch/text line together with the handle. The third recogniser detects if the user does a tap, and depending on if there's a selection, or if the cursor didn't move, it will show or hide the edit menu. The handles and loupe are implemented as overlays using Core Animation layers. Change-Id: Idff6e40e12307a458c9c399b0487bb976fce29c8 Reviewed-by: Tor Arne Vestbø <tor.arne.vestbo@theqtcompany.com>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | From testing on iOS, StartDragTime should be adjusted slightly, from 500 (default in qplatformtheme.cpp) down to 300. This will also affect how long the user needs to press before the text selection magnifier shows up for doing text selections. | * | iOS: (crash fix) ensure we don't clear focus object in a text responder ↵Richard Moe Gustavsen2016-04-221-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | transition When IM hints changes (e.g as a result of transferring focus between Qt objects), we sometimes need to reconfigure the keyboard. And the way we do that is to create a new QIOSTextResponder that matches the new configuration and tell it to become first responder. And in that process we need to ensure that we don't clear the focus object when the old text responder resigns. After all, it was the one requesting the new IM configuration in the first place. Since we set FirstResponderCandidate to point to the new text responder just before telling the old one to resign, we can use that variable to check if were in a first responder transition before clearing the focus object. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | QPlatformBackingStore::composeAndFlush() handles an empty texture list just fine, and results in the same blitting of the backing store image as we're doing today using the OpenGL paint engine, except the compose and flush code path is a lot more optimized. Among other things it clears the render buffer as the first step (as recommended by Apple on iOS), doesn't re-create the backing store texture each pass just because the image has changed, and respects the flushed region for both the texture upload (using glTexSubImage2D) and when blitting the texture. The result is a 10x increase in frames per second when blitting full screen updates. Change-Id: I163fab473751f8201758a5684b18d80bb90d42fb Reviewed-by: Laszlo Agocs <laszlo.agocs@theqtcompany.com>

| * | | QtBase (remainder): use printf-style qWarning/qDebug where possible (I)Marc Mutz2016-03-125-27/+27

Of course, you pay in type safety (but compilers warn about it these days), you cannot stream complex Qt types and streaming QStrings is awkward, but in many cases you actually improve on readability. But the main reason is that something that's not supposed to be executed under normal operation has no business bloating executable code size. This is not an attempt at converting all qWarnings() to printf-style, only the low-hanging fruit. In this first part, replace qWarning() << "" with qWarning("..."). Had to fix broken qImDebug() definition. Instead of defining it as a nullary macro in the QT_NO_DEBUG case and as a variadic macro in the other, define it in both cases, as is customary, as a non-function macro so that overload selection works without requiring variadic macro support of the compiler. Saves e.g. ~250b in text size in QtPrintSupport on optimized GCC 5.3 AMD64 builds. Change-Id: Ie30fe2f7942115d5dbf99fff1750ae0d477c379f Reviewed-by: Kai Koehne <kai.koehne@theqtcompany.com>

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [UITextInput textInRange] is sparsely documented, but it turns out that unconfirmed marked text should be seen as a part of the text document. This is different from Qt IM (ImSurroundingText), which handles marked text on the side. The reason we can assume this is that the range we are given as argument to textInRange exceeds the documents length when having marked text appended to the end, suggesting that it tries to read / verify the current marked text. In addition, keyboards like Japanese-Kana will not update and function correctly unless marked text is included. Note that the docs seems to imply that you cannot have marked text and text selection at the same time, unless the selection is contained within the marked text (using the dedicated selectedRange argument to setMarkedText). If this turns out to be incorrect, we might need to adjust the methods dealing with selection to also include marked text as well. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now that more of the raster operations are NEON-optimized this should be acceptable. The switch enables antialiased drawing, and makes iOS in line with other platforms in having QBackingStore backed by a QImage. The use of QImage also allows us to remove code from the backingstore implementation that was only needed to support the composeAndFlush code path. The common parts of a raster backingstore implementation have been factored out into QRasterBackingStore in platformsupport, which can be shared with more platforms in the future. [ChangeLog][iOS] QBackingStore now uses the raster paint engine instead of the OpenGL paint engine, enabling improved antialiased drawing. In case of performance regressions, the old code path can be enabled by setting the window's surface type to QSurface::OpenGLSurface. The reason was to avoid unnecessary flushes, as this in general can be a source to recursion problems. It turns out that this is also needed when sending Qt::Key_Return. The reason is that we sometimes resign first responder when the return key is pressed, which will also change the focus object in Qt. And without flushing the key event first, it will be processed after the change and therefore end up at the wrong object. It seems like the most sensible thing is to always flush upon receiving spontaneous key/text events from iOS, which is also how it was before. | * | iOS: only force-finish start-up from file engine when on main threadRichard Moe Gustavsen2015-11-091-14/+26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The authorization dialog that grants the application access to the assets will only show after returning back from applicationDidFinishLaunching. Therefore, trying to load an asset from main before qApp->exec() would normally fail. To remedy that, we added a path that starts a QEventLoop for a split second to force the application init process to finish. But this can only work if we start it from the main thread. A bug with this is seen in QML FileDialog, since it (clumsy enough) starts to iterate, in a separate thread, all the files in its currently set directory upon start-up construction (which should be fixed as well). The result is that the application gets dead-locked on start-up. Change-Id: I0047272d53314752903960b33f88b33dc0d7e78d Reviewed-by: Tor Arne Vestbø <tor.arne.vestbo@theqtcompany.com>

| * iOS: silence compiler warning about unimplemented 'selectionRectsForRange'Richard Moe Gustavsen2015-09-101-0/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Implement a dummy method to silence the compiler. After testing, this method seems to never be called. Which is good, since the current IM API in Qt have little to offer to resolve what is being asked. Until a need arise, we just return an empty array. | * iOS: handle all directions when calculating positionFromPositionRichard Moe Gustavsen2015-09-011-1/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The method is currently a bit buggy, since it does not take UITextLayoutDirectionUp and UITextLayoutDirectionDown into account. This patch is mostly for fixing something "just in case", since we so far have not seen UIKit calling this method for those directions unless a hardware keyboard is connected. And in that case, we anyway override IM navigation by dealing with the arrow keys explicit. Since IM in Qt does not support getting the position above or below the current position, we just return the current position, making it a no-op.
