Apple introduced UITextInteraction in iOS 13, which
caused issues with our text handling, and resulted in
e00d888daefb. This, again, seems to be the reason why
UIKit in some cases simply removes the input delegate
from our text responder. This typically happens after
a QPlatformInputContext::reset(), and then when the
next character is typed on the input panel (and hence,
leaves no informative stack trace).
The result of removing the input delegate, which is the
interface that let's Qt communicate IM changes back to
UIKit, leads Qt and the UIKit out of IM sync. E.g for a
japanese keyboard, after a QPlatformInputContext::reset(),
the Qt input field would remove the marked text, but
UIKit would still show japanese characters
based on what used to be marked text.
To work around this issue, this patch will therefore
recreate the text responder when Qt tells us to reset.
This will cause the first responder to change, which will
apparently also reset the UIKit IM state.

The QWSI event for theme change has an optional window parameter to
specify the window affected, but most platform react to global theme
changes, and end up passing nullptr into the event.
The reasonable thing to do in QGuiApplication in that case is send
a theme change event to every QWindow, so that they are all notified
about the situation.
This approach is what the Windows platform plugin was doing already,
but did so by iterating manually over the windows, resulting in multiple
calls to QGuiApplicationPrivate::handleThemeChanged -- one for each QWSI
event.

The user may tweak the appearance of text rendering on iOS to aid a11y,
by making the text larger or smaller, or bold. This feature, known as
Dynamic Type, will be reflected in the preferred content size category
of the application.
When we detect changes in this preferred content size category we respond
by invalidating the font database, which will trigger the application
to re-evaluate the sizes and weights of the theme fonts.
Unfortunately we do not currently pick up or propagate the scaled font
metrics when an explicit point or pixel size has been set on a QFont,
but this problem exists regardless of whether we dynamically handle
changes to dynamic types or only pick them up after an application
restart.

Implement support for detecting Light/Dark mode on iOS. This is needed
by the QQuickIOSStyle in order to display the proper image assets
according to the theme.
A further improvement would be to react to theme changes dynamically.

Prevent children from invisible parents from showing up in the a11y
hierarchy. This fixes a problem on iOS which e.g. always adds hyperlink

The ownership of the fonts were handled in the iOS and macOS themes,
but the CoreText font database also kept a reference to these fonts.
As there was no way for the themes to reset the font database
references we could potentially end up in a situation where the
font database had stale references. And as the font database
would not rebuild the theme fonts once populated the themes
then would not be able to build a new list of theme fonts.
Moving the ownership to the font database makes semantics
and management of the fonts clearer.

QPlatformTextureList holds a QRhiTexture instead of GLuint. A
QPlatformBackingStore now optionally can own a QRhi and a
QRhiSwapChain for the associated window. Non-GL rendering must use
this QRhi everywhere, whereas GL (QOpenGLWidget) can choose to still
rely on resource sharing between contexts. A widget tells that it
wants QRhi and the desired configuration in a new virtual function in
QWidgetPrivate returning a QPlatformBackingStoreRhiConfig. This is
evaluated (among a top-level's all children) upon create() before
creating the repaint manager and the QWidgetWindow.
In QOpenGLWidget what do request is obvious: it will request an
OpenGL-based QRhi. QQuickWidget (or a potential future QRhiWidget)
will be more interesting: it needs to honor the standard Qt Quick
env.vars. and QQuickWindow APIs (or, in whatever way the user
configured the QRhiWidget), and so will set up the config struct
accordingly.
In addition, the rhiconfig and surface type is (re)evaluated when
(re)parenting a widget to a new tlw. If needed, this will now trigger
a destroy - create on the tlw. This should be be safe to do in
setParent. When multiple child widgets report an enabled rhiconfig,
the first one (the first child encountered) wins. So e.g. attempting
to have a QOpenGLWidget and a Vulkan-based QQuickWidget in the same
top-level window will fail one of the widgets (it likely won't
render).
RasterGLSurface is no longer used by widgets. Rather, the appropriate
surface type is chosen.
The rhi support in the backingstore is usable without widgets as well.
To make rhiFlush() functional, one needs to call setRhiConfig() after
creating the QBackingStore. (like QWidget does to top-level windows)
Most of the QT_NO_OPENGL ifdefs are eliminated all over the place.
Everything with QRhi is unconditional code at compile time, except the
actual initialization.
Having to plumb the widget tlw's shareContext (or, now, the QRhi)
through QWindowPrivate is no longer needed. The old approach does not
scale: to implement composeAndFlush (now rhiFlush) we need more than
just a QRhi object, and this way we no longer pollute everything
starting from the widget level (QWidget's topextra -> QWidgetWindow ->
QWindowPrivate) just to send data around.
The BackingStoreOpenGLSupport interface and the QtGui - QtOpenGL split
is all gone. Instead, there is a QBackingStoreDefaultCompositor in
QtGui which is what the default implementations of composeAndFlush and
toTexture call. (overriding composeAndFlush and co. f.ex. in eglfs
should continue working mostly as-is, apart from adapting to the
texture list changes and getting the native OpenGL texture id out of
the QRhiTexture)
As QQuickWidget is way too complicated to just port as-is, an rhi
manual test (rhiwidget) is introduced as a first step, in ordewr to
exercise a simple, custom render-to-texture widget that does something
using a (not necessarily OpenGL-backed) QRhi and acts as fully
functional QWidget (modeled after QOpenGLWidget). This can also form
the foundation of a potential future QRhiWidget.
It is also possible to force the QRhi-based flushing always,
regardless of the presence of render-to-texture widgets. To exercise
this, set the env.var. QT_WIDGETS_RHI=1. This picks a
platform-specific default, and can be overridden with
QT_WIDGETS_RHI_BACKEND. (in sync with Qt Quick) This can eventually be
extended to query the platform plugin as well to check if the platform
plugin prefers to always do flushes with a 3D API.
QOpenGLWidget should work like before from the user's perspective, while
internally it has to do some things differently to play nice and prevent
regressions with the new rendering architecture. To exercise this
better, the qopenglwidget example gets a new tab-based view (that could
perhaps replace the example's main window later on?). The openglwidget
manual test is made compatible with Qt 6, and gets a counterpart in form
of the dockedopenglwidget manual test, which is a modified version of
the cube example that features dock widgets. This is relevant in
particular because render-to-texture widgets within a QDockWidget has
its own specific quirks, with logic taking this into account, hence
testing is essential.
For existing applications there are two important consequences with
this patch in place:
- Once the rhi-based composition is enabled, it stays active for the
lifetime of the top-level window.
- Dynamically creating and parenting the first render-to-texture
widget to an already created tlw will destroy and recreate the tlw
(and the underlying window). The visible effects of this depend on the
platform. (e.g. the window may disappear and reappear on some,
whereas with other windowing systems it is not noticeable at all -
this is not really different from similar situtions with reparenting
or when moving windows between screens, so should be acceptable in
practice)
- On iOS raster windows are flushed with Metal (and rhi) from now on
(previously this was through OpenGL by making flush() call
composeAndFlush().

When we use a native view controller for selecting documents, we have
two methods to implement from UIDocumentPickerDelegate (a file was selected
or the selection was cancelled). Unfortunately, swiping a view away
was not handled, so neither 'accept' nor 'reject' was called. Depending
on the classes using QIOSFileDialog, this may leave them in some incorrect
state, not knowing that they are 'closed' anyway.
As suggested by Tor Arne, the solution is to implement
UIAdaptivePresentationControllerDelegate's method, namely
-presentationControllerDidDismiss:, which never gets called if the
controller was dismissed programatically (the case of accept/reject).

The focus object can emit selection updates (e.g from mouse drag), and
accept modifying it through IM when dragging on the handles, even if it
doesn't accept text input and IM in general (and hence return false from
inputMethodAccepted()). This is typically the case for read-only text fields.
So we should listen for selection changes and enable handles also for
this case (unless the IM hints tells us explicitly not to use handles/edit menu).

In Qt, Qt::ImEnabled means that the focus object accepts text input from
input method (IM) events. But the IM API also contains API for dealing
with text selections. Text input and text selections are logically two
different operations, but since IM makes use of selections to implement
text input (like selecting a word to suggest a spelling correction), it's
understandable that they are combined into to same API.
So when a focus object reports Qt::ImEnabled to be false, it only means
that it doesn't accept input. E.g a TextArea in QML with "readOnly:true"
will set Qt::ImEnabled to false. At the same time, it can have
"selectByMouse:true", which lets you select text with the mouse.
This behavior is consistent in Qt, for both Quick, Controls 2 and Widgets.
Since we want to support any selections done in controls/widgets on iOS
with selection handles and edit menus, regardless if the focus object
accepts input or not, this patch will set the QIOSResponder (with read-only
actions) as first responder when we detect a focus object with Qt::ImReadOnly.
This means that if a query for Qt::ImReadOnly returns "true", we take that
to mean that it implements the IM API, but without accepting input.

QIOSTextResponder base class
QIOSTextInputResponder has two responsibilities; It takes care of
handling text input from UIKit, and to implement first responder
actions related to the edit menu, like copy and paste.
Currently the responder offers both writable (paste) and
readable (select, copy) actions. Because of the former, it means
that it can only be used for focus objects that accepts text input.
Since we also want to be able to show an edit menu for selections
done on a read-only input field, this patch will factor out the
read-only actions we want for that case into a QIOSTextResponder
base class. An instance of this class can be used as first responder
for a focus object that has read-only text, but otherwise doesn't
support text input. This part is implemented in a subsequent patch.
The remaining set of writeable actions, together with input method
handling, will continue to be in the QIOSTextInputResponder subclass.

Associating the UIWindow with a different screen will trigger layout
of the child views of the window, including the view that we're in
the process of removing, which doesn't have a platform window anymore.
Instead of protecting every possible code path in the view code
with checks for a platform window we defer the restoring of
mirror mode until after the view has been removed.

Remove useless overrides of QAbstractFileEngine methods from the derived
classes. Also remove "This virtual function must be reimplemented by
all subclasses" passages from the QAbstractFileEngine's documentation.
There are pure virtual methods for such use cases. QAbstractFileEngine
already contains useful defaults for classes not supporting all the
functionality.

This continues the effort from the previous commit, by not passing
through the JSON conversion at all, and simply using CBOR directly.
The port in qtbase is complete, but in order to support the conversion
in other modules without introducing breakages, there's a temporary
class used for converting to QPluginParsedMetaData from
QJsonObject. It'll be removed once all other modules have finished
converting.

The iOS port creates one QIOSViewController per connected
screen. And each view controller listens for changes to
the application state. The problem is that we never
disconnect this connection again. So if a screen is removed, and
the corresponing view controller is deallocated, the
connection is still kept alive. This will cause crashes to
occur when the signal emits, since the slot will then be accessing
deleted memory.

Having two undo/redo operations on the rebuilt undo stack always enables
the undo/redo widgets on the shorcut bar. This might be more desirable than

logicalDpi() and logicalBaseDpi() should return the
same DPI on iOS, in order to make Qt not apply a scale
factor.
Accomplish this by overriding logicalBaseDpi() instead
of logicalDpi(). The default QPlatformScreen::logicalDpi()
implementation will then call logicalBaseDpi().

If we are in a case where the original window is deleted before a new
one is shown then we need to make sure that we are not still expecting
that the original one has the focus. So we protect against the crash
by only outputting the address of the object that previously had
focus.
A follow-up patch will be done for inclusion from 6.2 that will fix
the root cause of the pointer being invalid when the only window is
deleted before a new one is shown.

UIKeyboardTypeDecimalPad only provides digits and decimal point, no
minus sign, but ImhFormattedNumbersOnly is documented to provide a
minus sign as well. UIKeyboardTypeNumbersAndPunctuation includes
punctuation, which should cover signs as well as decimal separator, so
use that - same as for ImhPreferNumbers. A little more permissive than
we want here, but that's better than more restrictive !

The pro2cmake.py conversion script faithfully reproduced the .pro files
for the plugins, which specified the libraries as public. But in CMake,
the implications of this are that public usage requirements should then
be propagated to consumers. We don't expect any consumers, since a
plugin is created as a MODULE library in CMake, so for Windows we don't
even have an import library to link with. The only exception to this is
for static builds where plugins are created as STATIC libraries
instead, but only in certain controlled situations do we then link to
plugins. Even then, usage requirements are not expected to propagate to
the consumers, so these relationships should always be specified as
private.
This change warns on any PUBLIC usage requirements specified for a
plugin. This check is disabled by default to avoid spamming CI builds
for repos that haven't been fixed yet. The check can be enabled by a
CMake cache option, which is intended for developers to use locally
when fixing this issue in other repos (all plugins in qtbase should
not trigger this warning as a result of changes in this commit).

A typical Qt application, such as a QML application, is a single full
screen QUIView, containing all of the granular controls of the UI.
The view accepts first responder status, so that we can pass on text
input to a possible text field inside the UI. That however triggers iOS
to bring up the editing interaction menu whenever the user taps with
three fingers, as iOS can't know that only parts of our view is suitable
for interaction.
To mitigate that we override the editingInteractionConfiguration getter
of the view, as documented, and dynamically report the correct enablement
based on whether we have an active focus object that accepts input.
This works because iOS queries the getter from the three finger tap
gesture recognizer, before showing the menu.

field, and as such, transfer focus, the menu
will continue to stay visible.
This patch will ensure that we hide the edit

Be more careful about reporting a new selection to Qt. The code for
handling IM selection events in QQuickTextArea is quite complex
and need to take pre-edit text into account. The latter means
that when the pre-edit text changes, as a result of the user composing
a word, the width of the pre-edit text will also change (and as
such, the cursor rectangle). But the cursor position itself stays
the same. And for this reason, it emits cursorRectChanged more often
than strictly needed. But rather than trying to clean that up, we
do some extra checking before we send the IM event from QPA in
the first place.

On iOS, if you select some text, the edit menu will show on
top of it. And if you tap on the screen (or inside the menu) it
will hide. But if you type on the input panel, it will stay
open. This is wrong.
This patch will keep better track of whether or not the edit
menu was opened by us, and if it was, ensure we close it also
if the cursor moves by typing on the input panel.

Bug: If you do a press and hold on a line edit, the edit menu
will show to let you select a word etc. If you now do
another press and hold to bring back the magnifier glass,
the edit menu will stay open while you move the magnifier glass.
This patch will ensure that we always hide the edit menu when
we show the magnifier. There is never a case where both of
them should show at the same time. By hiding the menu from
the place where we show the magnifier means that we can
remove code from the QIOSSelectionRecognizer that used
to do this for one of the cases from before.

this has now changed (probably as a part of
[UIMenuController setMenuVisible:] being deprecated in
iOS 13). So we now need to hide it explicitly.
Because of this, we no longer close the edit menu if
the user taps outside the input area. This patch will
fix this by updating the logic in QIOSTapRecognizer to
close the menu explicitly.
There are some more details around when to show or hide
the menu, which is commented on at the relevant places
directly in the patch.

This enables the two possible approaches for handling external keyboard
events. While support still exists for before 13.4 then both approaches
are needed. This ensures that all external keyboard events are handled
as key events and passed on accordingly. Additionally, this accounts
for possible shortcuts too, therefore a new function is added to
QShortcutMap to aid that.
As a result, code has now moved from QCocoaKeyMapper to be part of the
gui/platforms/darwin part to make it easier to reuse this code
elsewhere.

Remove the qmake project files for most of Qt.
Leave the qmake project files for examples, because we still test those
in the CI to ensure qmake does not regress.
Also leave the qmake project files for utils and other minor parts that
lack CMake project files.
