The GDI font backend is missing support for certain modern features,
and has a lot of work arounds for missing APIs. DirectWrite is the
modern way to handle fonts on Windows, so we make this the default
now, but keep the old backend as a fail safe.

The API is supported on macOS, iOS, and Windows. On Android no official
API exists for badging the application icon, and we don't want to take
on dependencies like ShortcutBadger [1].
The macOS and iOS implementations are trivial. The same goes for
the WinRT based implementation on Windows, but this API is only
available for applications that have a so called "package identity",
and does not seem to be stable for Windows 10.
To cover the cases where this API is not available we fall back to
drawing the badge manually, and set it as an overlay icon on the task
bar using ITaskbarList3. The look of this badge has been tweaked to
match the Windows 11/10 styles, and will pick up the user's choice of
dark/light mode and accent color if available.
[1] https://github.com/leolin310148/ShortcutBadger/
[ChangeLog][QtGui] Added QGuiApplication::setBadgeNumber() to inform
the user about e.g. the number of unread e-mail or queued tasks.
The badge will be overlaid on the application's icon in the Dock
on macOS, the home screen icon on iOS, or the task bar on Windows.

After switching qtbase to use the syncqt tool (in
b89d63515bb352cecfd87e709320a2db5b6a1906), these OpenGL specific
headers aren't available at all, when the build is configured
to not use OpenGL.
In one case, add a missing check for QT_NO_OPENGL, and in another
case, include the necessary <QtGui/qtgui-config.h> header to
make the potential QT_NO_OPENGL define available, to make a
preexisting ifdef actually do what it was meant to do.

We were already using the 'native' nomenclature when referring to these
kinds of APIs, e.g. when talking about native handles, or the existing
QPlatformNativeInterface on a QPA level. Using 'native' for the user
facing APIs also distinguishes them from the 'platform' backend layer
in QPA and elsewhere.

The API is available by including qopenglcontext.h as usual,
but scoped in the QPlatformInterface namespace. The namespace
exposes platform specific type-safe interfaces that provide:
a) Factory functions for adopting native contexts, e.g.
QCocoaGLContext::fromNative(nsContext, shareContext);
b) Access to underlying native handles, e.g.
openGLContext->platformInterface<QCocoaGLContext>->nativeContext()
c) Platform specific functionality, e.g.
static QWGLContext::openGLModuleHandle()
openGLContext->platformInterface<QEGLContext>->doSomething();
The platform interfaces live close to the classes they extend,
removing the need for complex indirection and plumbing, and
avoids kitchen-sink modules and APIs such as the extras modules,
QPlatformFunctions, or QPlatformNativeInterface.
In the case of QOpenGLContext these platform APIs are backed
by the platform plugin, so dynamic_cast is used to ensure the
platform plugin supports the requested interface, but this is
and implementation detail. The interface APIs are agnostic
to where the implementation lives, while still being available
to the user as part of the APIs they extend/augment.
The documentation will be restored when the dust settles.

Adds an opt-in experimental DirectWrite-based font database.
This cannot be the 100% replacement for GDI unfortunately, since
quite a few font formats used on Windows are still unsupported.
But it would be good to have it as an opt-in experimental feature
since it should make it easier to solve multiple font selection
issues we have on Windows.
In order to still share the DirectWrite-specific code between
the old and new database, this introduces a common base class.
Note that the feature depends on DirectWrite 3 support (Windows 10).

QWindowSystemInterface is the de facto API for any plumbing going from
the platform plugin to QtGui. Having the functions as protected members
of QPlatformIntegration was idiosyncratic, and resulted in awkward
workarounds to be able to call the functions from outside of the
QPlatformIntegration subclass.
The functions in QPlatformIntegration have been left in, but deprecated
so that platform plugins outside of qtbase have a chance to move over to
the new QWSI API before they are removed.

Add simple Win32-API based menus (not owner-drawn).
Native menus are implemented using Win32 API and are simpler than
QMenu-based menus in for example that they do allow for placing widgets on
them or changing properties like fonts and do not provide hover signals.
They are mainly intended for Qt Quick. By default, they will be used if the
application is not an instance of QApplication or for Qt Quick Controls
2 applications.
In addition, the command line option -platform windows:menus=native
will unconditionally activate them and -platform windows:menus=no
turns them off.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][Windows] Native menus have been implemented.

Introduce QPA-based Vulkan library loader, core function resolver, and

adopting an existing one from an external engine is supported as well.
The WSI specifics are hidden in the platform plugins. Vulkan-capable

a QVulkanInstance.

The platform plugins reading this out of the QWindow was a layering
violation, and propagates the notion that a window can shape shift
into representing a new native handle, while none of the platform
plugins support this.
A foreign QWindow is created via the factory function fromWinId(),
at which point we can pass the WId all the way to the platform
plugin as function arguments, where the platform will create a
corresponding platform-window.
The platform window can then answer the question of whether or
not it's representing a foreign window, which determines a few
behavioral changes here and there, as well as supplying the
native window handle back for QWindow::winId();
[ChangeLog][QtGui][QWindow] The "_q_foreignWinId" dynamic property
is no longer set nor read.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][QPA] The function createForeignWindow() has been
added to QPlatormIntegration and is now responsible for creating
foreign windows. The function isForeignWindow() in QPlatformWindow
has been added, and platforms should implement this to return true
for windows created by createForeignWindow().

This allows creating or extending QPA plugins to provide access to QFont
and related types.
It concerns both GDI and DirectWrite engines, as well as the regular and
the freetype based font databases. The qt.qpa.fonts logging category has
been moved together into the QWindowsFontDatabase related files to avoid
depending on the qwindowscontext.h header file. Finally, QwindowsNativeImage
is following pending a future refactor with similar code in qpixmap_win.cpp
and the Windows XP style.

Qt copyrights are now in The Qt Company, so we could update the source
code headers accordingly. In the same go we should also fix the links to
point to qt.io.
Outdated header.LGPL removed (use header.LGPL21 instead)
Old header.LGPL3 renamed to header.LGPL3-COMM to match actual licensing
combination. New header.LGPL-COMM taken in the use file which were
using old header.LGPL3 (src/plugins/platforms/android/extract.cpp)
Added new header.LGPL3 containing Commercial + LGPLv3 + GPLv2 license
combination

Previously QPlatformScreen was automatically deleting its QScreen
in ~QPlatformScreen(). That means that we cannot use QScreen's
methods when the screen is being removed, because doing so would
call virtual methods of QPlatformScreen. By that point the
QPlatformScreen subclass object does not exist anymore, and we
call the default implementation instead of the subclassed one, or
get a crash for the pure virtual methods. This happens for example
when removing a screen which contains a QWindow with some QML item
using QQuickScreenAttached.
This patch adds a QPlatformIntegration::destroyScreen() function,
which deletes the QScreen and later the QPlatformScreen.
~QPlatformScreen will still delete the QScreen if it was not deleted
with destroyScreen(), so code not ported to the new approach
will continue to work as before, with only a warning added.

The dynamic builds (-opengl dynamic) are now functional on Windows.
In such a build no components in Qt link to any OpenGL libraries directly
and qmake will not automatically add any such libraries to the
applications' makefiles. Instead, the libraries are chosen and loaded
during runtime and applications are expected to use QOpenGLFunctions
instead of direct OpenGLfunction calls.
Set the environment variable QT_OPENGL to desktop or angle to skip testing
and force the given implementation. The application attributes (AA_UseOpenGLES
and such) are also taken into account.
The testing logic is same as before: We try to load opengl32 and
resolve a shader related function. If this fails, ANGLE is chosen. This
allows utilizing full desktop OpenGL on systems that have proper drivers,
while a transparent fallback to ANGLE will be done automatically for
systems that don't. The latter includes also remote desktop connections.
Software rendering via Mesa llvmpipe is supported too. The fallback is
automatic on systems where the desktop test fails and ANGLE fails to load
or initialize (e.g. due to missing libs like d3dcompiler), as long as a
suitable patched build of Mesa is available.
[ChangeLog][QtGui] Dynamic OpenGL implementation loading is now supported
on Windows. This requires Qt to be configured with -opengl dynamic.

Add a per-window swap chain to a QPlatformWindow subclass instead of tying
it to the backing store. This is needed to support native widgets (as
opposed to alien widgets).
Change the backing store to draw to an intermediate pixmap and flush to
the requested window by using the per-window swap chain. This also opens
the door for faster window presentation later on by using the swap chain
more intelligently.
Also add a changelog entry for the direct2d plugin, which was omitted
earlier.
[ChangeLog][QtGui][Windows]
Introduce experimental direct2d platform plugin for Windows. This plugin
shares most code with the current windows plugin, but substitutes a
direct2d-based paint engine for window backing stores and pixmaps.
