It adds nothing new to what the trivial and license wizard examples
show, other than a bunch of somewhat messy and outdated code to generate
C++ code files based on the input.
The example is referenced in a few parts of the documentation, but there
are equivalent snippets in the trivial and license wizard examples, so
point at those instead, and add some relevant API usage where needed.

As of macOS 10.14 the keyboard assistant background is shipped as part
of the compiled asset catalog of the app, so looking it up via a URL
will fail.
Instead we look it up via NSBundle's dedicated image lookup function,
which handles both cases.
The logic has also been moved to qwizard.cpp, since the additional
plumbing via QPlatformNativeInterface was unnecessary.
The keyboard assistant itself no longer shows the background image
as of macOS 12, so we might consider doing the same, but the design
of the assistant has also changed significantly, so as long as our
QWizard layout looks like the old keyboard assistant we keep the
background as well.

This is a semantic patch using ClangTidyTransformator as in
qtbase/df9d882d41b741fef7c5beeddb0abe9d904443d8, but extended to
handle typedefs and accesses through pointers, too:
const std::string o = "object";
auto hasTypeIgnoringPointer = [](auto type) { return anyOf(hasType(type), hasType(pointsTo(type))); };
auto derivedFromAnyOfClasses = [&](ArrayRef<StringRef> classes) {
auto exprOfDeclaredType = [&](auto decl) {
return expr(hasTypeIgnoringPointer(hasUnqualifiedDesugaredType(recordType(hasDeclaration(decl))))).bind(o);
};
return exprOfDeclaredType(cxxRecordDecl(isSameOrDerivedFrom(hasAnyName(classes))));
};
auto renameMethod = [&] (ArrayRef<StringRef> classes,
StringRef from, StringRef to) {
return makeRule(cxxMemberCallExpr(on(derivedFromAnyOfClasses(classes)),
callee(cxxMethodDecl(hasName(from), parameterCountIs(0)))),
changeTo(cat(access(o, cat(to)), "()")),
cat("use '", to, "' instead of '", from, "'"));
};
renameMethod(<classes>, "count", "size");
renameMethod(<classes>, "length", "size");
except that the on() matcher has been replaced by one that doesn't
ignoreParens().

To allow the user to customize the C++ code that QDoc sees, so as to be
able to work-around some limitations on QDoc itself, QDoc defines two
symbols: Q_QDOC and Q_CLANG_QDOC, both of which are "true" during an
entire execution of QDoc.
At a certain point in time, QDoc allowed the user the choice between a
custom C++ parser and a Clang based one.
The Q_QDOC symbol would always be defined while the Q_CLANG_QDOC symbol
would be defined only when the Clang based parser was chosen.
In more recent times, QDoc always uses a Clang based parser, such that
both Q_CLANG_QDOC and Q_QDOC are always defined, making them equivalent.
To avoid using different symbols, and the possible confusion and
fragmentation that derives from it, all usages of Q_CLANG_QDOC are now
replaced by the equivalent usages of Q_QDOC.

This is a combination of Q_UNREACHABLE() with a return statement.
ATM, the return statement is unconditionally included. If we notice
that some compilers warn about return after __builtin_unreachable(),
then we can map Q_UNREACHABLE_RETURN(...) to Q_UNREACHABLE() without
having to touch all the code that uses explicit Q_UNREACHABLE() +
return.
The fact that Boost has BOOST_UNREACHABLE_RETURN() indicates that
there are compilers that complain about a lack of return after
Q_UNREACHABLE (we know that MSVC, ICC, and GHS are among them), as
well as compilers that complained about a return being present
(Coverity). Take this opportunity to properly adapt to Coverity, by
leaving out the return statement on this compiler.
Apply the macro around the code base, using a clang-tidy transformer
rule:
const std::string unr = "unr", val = "val", ret = "ret";
auto makeUnreachableReturn = cat("Q_UNREACHABLE_RETURN(",
ifBound(val, cat(node(val)), cat("")),
")");
auto ignoringSwitchCases = [](auto stmt) {
return anyOf(stmt, switchCase(subStmt(stmt)));
};
makeRule(
stmt(ignoringSwitchCases(stmt(isExpandedFromMacro("Q_UNREACHABLE")).bind(unr)),
nextStmt(returnStmt(optionally(hasReturnValue(expr().bind(val)))).bind(ret))),
{changeTo(node(unr), cat(makeUnreachableReturn,
";")), // TODO: why is the ; lost w/o this?
changeTo(node(ret), cat(""))},
cat("use ", makeUnreachableReturn))
);
where nextStmt() is copied from some upstream clang-tidy check's
private implementation and subStmt() is a private matcher that gives
access to SwitchCase's SubStmt.
A.k.a. qt-use-unreachable-return.
There were some false positives, suppressed them with NOLINTNEXTLINE.
They're not really false positiives, it's just that Clang sees the
world in one way and if conditonal compilation (#if) differs for other
compilers, Clang doesn't know better. This is an artifact of matching
two consecutive statements.
I haven't figured out how to remove the empty line left by the
deletion of the return statement, if it, indeed, was on a separate
line, so post-processed the patch to remove all the lines matching
^\+ *$ from the diff:
git commit -am meep
git reset --hard HEAD^
git diff HEAD..HEAD@{1} | sed '/^\+ *$/d' | recountdiff - | patch -p1
[ChangeLog][QtCore][QtAssert] Added Q_UNREACHABLE_RETURN() macro.

We've been requiring C++17 since Qt 6.0, and our qAsConst use finally
starts to bother us (QTBUG-99313), so time to port away from it
now.
Since qAsConst has exactly the same semantics as std::as_const (down
to rvalue treatment, constexpr'ness and noexcept'ness), there's really
nothing more to it than a global search-and-replace, with manual
unstaging of the actual definition and documentation in dist/,
src/corelib/doc/ and src/corelib/global/.

particularly with fractional dpr scaling. So enable this generally in
QStylePainter, and make more of the relevant widgets use QStylePainter
instead of QPainter directly.
Differences can be seen in the widgets examples, e.g. textedit,

Q_MOVABLE_TYPE was conceived before C++ had move semantics. Now, with
move semantics, its name is misleading. Q_RELOCATABLE_TYPE was
introduced as a synonym to Q_MOVABLE_TYPE. Usage of Q_MOVABLE_TYPE
is discouraged now. This patch replaces all usages of Q_MOVABLE_TYPE
by Q_RELOCATABLE_TYPE in QtBase. As the two are synonymous, this
patch should have no impact on users.

... and QMultiMap as std::multimap.
Just use the implementation from the STL; we can't really claim that
our code is much better than STL's, or does things any differently
(de facto they're both red-black trees).
Decouple QMultiMap from QMap, by making it NOT inherit from
QMap any longer. This completes the deprecation started in 5.15:
QMap now does not store duplicated keys any more.
Something to establish is where to put the
QExplictlySharedDataPointer replcement that is in there as an
ad-hoc solution. There's a number of patches in-flight by Marc
that try to introduce the same (or very similar) functionality.
Miscellanea changes to the Q(Multi)Map code itself:
* consistently use size_type instead of int;
* pass iterators by value;
* drop QT_STRICT_ITERATORS;
* iterators implictly convert to const_iterators, and APIs
take const_iterators;
* iterators are just bidirectional and not random access;
* added noexcept where it makes sense;
* "inline" dropped (churn);
* qMapLessThanKey dropped (undocumented, 0 hits in Qt, 1 hit in KDE);
* operator== on Q(Multi)Map requires operator== on the key type
(we're checking for equality, not equivalence!).
Very few breakages occur in qtbase.
[ChangeLog][Potentially Source-Incompatible Changes] QMap does not
support multiple equivalent keys any more. Any related functionality
has been removed from QMap, following the deprecation that happened
in Qt 5.15. Use QMultiMap for this use case.
[ChangeLog][Potentially Source-Incompatible Changes] QMap and
QMultiMap iterators random-access API have been removed. Note that
the iterators have always been just bidirectional; moving
an iterator by N positions can still be achieved using std::next
or std::advance, at the same cost as before (O(N)).
[ChangeLog][Potentially Source-Incompatible Changes] QMultiMap does
not inherit from QMap any more. Amongst other things, this means
that iterators on a QMultiMap now belong to the QMultiMap class
(and not to the QMap class); new Java iterators have been added.

Call QGuiApplication and QScreen APIs directly to get geometries, and
make use of QScreen::grabWindow grabbing the screen it's called on when
called with WId == 0.
This assumes that QGuiApplication::screen and QWidget::screen never
return nullptr, which is already assumed in other places.
In QSplashScreen, simplify the code to operate on the screen of the
QSplashScreen itself. Remove the case that handles a QDesktopWidget
parent - QSplashScreen doesn't have a constructor that takes a
QWidget* parent anymore.
In the QEffect implementation, we can rely on the widget pointer
not being nullptr (it's tested in the free functions client code
uses).
Includes a few drive-by changes to coding style and logic in
qtooltip.cpp, where the tip label placement now prefers the screen
of the widget the label is created for, and uses the position only
as a fallback.
What remains is the special handling of QDesktopWidget and the
Qt::Desktop type in QWidget and QApplication.

There is no reason for keep using our macro now that we have C++17.
The macro itself is left in for the moment being, as well as its
detection logic, because it's needed for C code (not everything
supports C11 yet). A few more cleanups will arrive in the next few
patches.
Note that this is a mere search/replace; some places were using
double braces to work around the presence of commas in a macro, no
attempt has been done to fix those.
tst_qglobal had just some minor changes to keep testing the macro.

Remove QDestopWidget public header, simplify the implementation that
maintains a Qt::Desktop type QWidget for each QScreen, and turn
QWidget's initial target screen into a QScreen pointer.
QApplication::desktop() now takes an optional QScreen pointer, and
returns a QWidget pointer, so that applications and widgets can get
access to the root widget for a specific screen without having to
resort to private APIs.
QDesktopWidgetPrivate implementations to look up a screen for an index,
widget, or point are now all inline functions that thinly wrap
QGuiApplication::screens/screenAt calls. We should consider adding those
as convenience APIs to QScreen instead.
Note that QWidget::screen is assumed to return a valid pointer; there is
code that handles the case that it returns nullptr (but also code that
trusts that it never is nullptr), so this needs to be defined, verified
with tests, and asserted. We can then simplify the code further.

The class is documented as obsolete, and the majority of APIs is marked
as deprecated. In this first phase, remove all explicitly deprecated
APIs and trivial implementations.
The test case is complete removed; what's left when code that uses any
of those deprecated methods is removed is not testing anything
meaningful.
For some methods, there is no practical replacement using QScreen yet,
and QDesktopWidget is still used in QWidget internals. Those require
refactoring to only use QScreen before the rest can be removed.

As per the ### Qt 6 comment. A method visitedPages should, following
the convention of the other QWizard APIs, return a list of QWizardPage
pointers. Since the method returns a list of IDs, visitedIds is the
correct name.
[ChangeLog][QtWidgets][QWizard] visitedPages has been deprecated, use
visitedIds instead.

The previous versions of these functions that returned by-pointer are
held over from Qt 1 times. They are inconsistent with the rest of the
Qt API.
[ChangeLog][QtWidgets][QLabel] QLabel::pixmap() and QLabel::picture()
can now return by-value instead of by-pointer.

Done using clang-tidy. This is not complete as
run-clang-tidy can't handle all of qtbase in one go.

This was used to support QFlags f = 0 initialization, but with 0 used
as a pointer literal now considered bad form, it had been changed many
places to QFlags f = nullptr, which is meaningless and confusing.

The fix for QTBUG-35203 set the Alt+Right shortcut on the next

for other languages). Add a separate shortcut for Alt+Right since a
button may not have several shortcuts.

Pass the style option to dpiScaled() in order to get
the correct screen DPI. The style option contains the
font, which again contains the current DPI value.
Add QFontMetrics::fontDpi() accessors to get the DPI
from the QFont. This DPI will/should be updated on screen
change.
Replace hardcoded Q_OS_MAC DPI with hardcoded base
DPI. This makes per-screen DPI testable on macOS, too.
