Currently my thinking is to not add overloads for static functions where std::filesystem can already do the same job, e.g. create directory or file. Template and enable_if is needed due to both QString and std::filesystem::path being able to be constructed from string literals. The common shared code is currently in QFile because QDir had an implicit include of QFile, made explicit in this patch, and QFileInfo has an include to QFile as well. The QT_HAS_STD_FILESYSTEM macro is visible in user-code which I currently take advantage of in the tests, and users could too. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Its filePath() and absoluteFilePath() don't trust its own isAbsolute(), due to some infelicities on MS-Win; and kludged round a consequent problem with resource paths; but other virtual file systems weren't catered for. Replace the convoluted test there with a static bool function (so that future kludges in this area shall only need to edit one place; and can document why they're needed) and use a more robust test that handles all virtual file systems (by asking QFileInfo) but falls back to QFileSystemEntry to work round the known infelicities on MS-Win. Add regression test for asset library paths issue on iOS. Ammends 27f1f84c1c2. Moved a couple of local variables to after the early return, since it doesn't need them, in the process. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There's no way to install files automatically into the file system on Android, so to test QDir on the file system, we have to bundle the files in qrc and then copy them into the file system on startup. This adds some complexity, but at least it will detect regressions. We also need to make sure the current directory is the same as the data path, since the test assumes this, and /usr/ does not exist on Android, so we have to use a different path to find the root path. * Drop file-engine abstraction from public APIJoão Abecasis2012-02-221-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This abstraction imposed serious performance penalties and is being dropped from the public API. In particular, by allowing file names to be arbitrarily hijacked by different file engines, and requiring engines to be instantiated in order to decide, it imposed unnecessary overhead on all file operations. Another flaw in the design with direct impact on performance is how engines have no way to provide (or retain) additional information obtained when querying the filesystem. In many places this has meant repeated operations on the file system, where useful information is immediately discarded to be queried again subsequently. For Qt 4.8 a major refactoring of the code base took place to allow bypassing the file-engine abstraction in select places, with considerable performance gains observed. In Qt 5 it is expected we'll be able to take this further, reaping even more benefits, but the abstraction has to go. [Dropping this now does not preclude that virtual file systems make an appearance in Qt at a later point in Qt 5's lifecycle. Hopefully with a new and improved abstraction.] Forward declarations for QFileExtension(Result) were dropped, as the classes were never used or defined. Tests using "internalized" classes will only fully run on developer builds. QFSFileEngine was removed altogether from exception safety test, as it isn't its intent to test internal API.
