* QResource: obey the MapPrivateOption option to provide RW memoryThiago Macieira4 days2-4/+25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The documentation says: The mapping will have the same open mode as the file (read and/or write), except when using MapPrivateOption, in which case it is always possible to write to the mapped memory. So obey it. This may cause high memory use by copying data we already have. This may be important because applications may want to memory-map resources which they intentionally didn't compress because those resources are large. Later commits will implement some workarounds. * QDirIterator: add nextFileInfo()Marc Mutz2021-07-281-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Before this change, next() was the only way to advance the iterator, whether the caller was ultimately interested in just the filePath() (good) or not (bad luck, had to call .fileInfo()). Add a new function, nextFileInfo(), with returns fileInfo() instead. Incidentally, the returned object has already been constructed as part of advance()ing the iterator, so the new function is faster than next() even if the result is ignored, because we're not calculating a QString result the caller may not be interested in. Use the new function around the code. Fix a couple of cases of next(); fileInfo().filePath() (just use next()'s return value) as a drive-by. [ChangeLog][QtCore][QDirIterator] Added nextFileInfo(), which is like next(), but returns fileInfo() instead of filePath(). | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This saves us from having to bootstrap rcc in regular (non-cross) compilations, as it can now link to QtCore. Actually un-bootstrapping rcc is left as an exercise for the reader. This commit discovered that MSVC cannot handle constexpr arrays bigger than 256 kB, at which point it simply starts claiming that the constant expressions using it are not constexpr. ICC has a similar problem at 64 kB, but it tells you why ("note: type "const unsigned char [65537]" too large for constant-expression evaluation"). Note also that this requires gzip or zstd to be in PATH for compression to happen. RCC linked to zlib, which is always present due to the bundled copy. gzip's presence is not likely to be a problem on Unix systems, but could be for Windows users, especially MSVC ones. If gzip is not present, QtCore's size will increase by about 1910 kB of read-only (sharable) data. * Disable debug-and-release builds for MinGWSimon Hausmann2019-09-181-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The requirement to separate debug and release DLLs on Windows stems from the Visual Studio C run-time library appearing in two different variants (debug and release) and not mixing well. It's possible to perform builds without optimzations and with debug symbols while linking against the release version of the C run-time, but at the same time the debug version of the run-time brings other developer visible advantages. MinGW on the other hand does not have this distinction, does not ship with separate DLLS and does also not require the VS C runtime library. Therefore we do not need this separation for MinGW, which means that our packages can be reduced in size and application developers wishing to debug their applications do not have to use debug builds of the Qt libraries or run into Qt internal debug code. * | Make it easier to use resources in plugins when using static linkingSimon Hausmann2018-04-237-23/+64
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | RCC generates code that registers resources automatically on program startup via global constructors. When linking statically and nothing references the symbols in the .o file compiled from the RCC generated code, then the linker will discard the embedded resources and they will not get initialized. That is why for static linking it is necessary to explicitly initialize resources using the Q_INIT_RESOURCE macro. We can avoid the need for the explicit initialization in the context of plugins that are statically linked into the application. resources.prf can generate a .cpp file with a helper function that contains all the Q_INIT_RESOURCE calls for all resources in the plugin. That helper function in turn is injected into the plugin entry point, which in turn is guaranteed to be included in the final binary. * Whitespace cleanup: remove trailing whitespaceAxel Waggershauser2013-03-161-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove all trailing whitespace from the following list of files: *.cpp *.h *.conf *.qdoc *.pro *.pri *.mm *.rc *.pl *.qps *.xpm *.txt *README excluding 3rdparty, test-data and auto generated code. Note A): the only non 3rdparty c++-files that still have trailing whitespace after this change are: * src/corelib/codecs/cp949codetbl_p.h * src/corelib/codecs/qjpunicode.cpp * src/corelib/codecs/qbig5codec.cpp * src/corelib/xml/qxmlstream_p.h * src/tools/qdoc/qmlparser/qqmljsgrammar.cpp * src/tools/uic/ui4.cpp * tests/auto/other/qtokenautomaton/tokenizers/* * tests/benchmarks/corelib/tools/qstring/data.cpp * util/lexgen/tokenizer.cpp Note B): in about 30 files some overlapping 'leading tab' and 'TAB character in non-leading whitespace' issues have been fixed to make the sanity bot happy. Plus some general ws-fixes here and there as asked for during review. Change-Id: Ia713113c34d82442d6ce4d93d8b1cf545075d11d Reviewed-by: Oswald Buddenhagen <oswald.buddenhagen@digia.com>
