When a slot is connected to the modelReset signal before the model is
set on the view, then such a slot might try to resize the columns or
rows to fit the contents before the view had a chance to perform layout
work.
In that case, the while-loop that calculated the size hint of a rows
(or column) by checking the size hint of each cell might not exit, as
cached information about visual indexes would be invalid.
To prevent this, don't loop over the cells if the actual last row/column
of the model (after the reset) is less than the first (cached) visible
row/column. Also, make sure we increase the counter for number of
rows/columns processed with each iteration.
Add a test (that loops infinitely without the fix, resulting in the
test being killed by the framework), and make the 'actual' variables
constant for clarity.

When a table view adds its first row, QHeaderView::initializeSections()
is called. It initializes the vertical header view with the number of
added sections. Subsequently QHeaderView::sectionsInserted() is called
with the same amount of newly added rows/sections.
That leads to the initial amount of sections being 2x the number of
rows added in the first go. In other words, the table view will display
at least one row more than the underlying table model has.
This patch adds an OR condition to the early return check at the
beginning of QHeaderView::sectionsInserted(). The method returns early
if the number of sections equals the number of respective sections
(rows in this case) in the model.
An autotest is added in tst_QTableView::rowsInVerticalHeader().

This is a semantic patch using ClangTidyTransformator as in
qtbase/df9d882d41b741fef7c5beeddb0abe9d904443d8, but extended to
handle typedefs and accesses through pointers, too:
const std::string o = "object";
auto hasTypeIgnoringPointer = [](auto type) { return anyOf(hasType(type), hasType(pointsTo(type))); };
auto derivedFromAnyOfClasses = [&](ArrayRef<StringRef> classes) {
auto exprOfDeclaredType = [&](auto decl) {
return expr(hasTypeIgnoringPointer(hasUnqualifiedDesugaredType(recordType(hasDeclaration(decl))))).bind(o);
};
return exprOfDeclaredType(cxxRecordDecl(isSameOrDerivedFrom(hasAnyName(classes))));
};
auto renameMethod = [&] (ArrayRef<StringRef> classes,
StringRef from, StringRef to) {
return makeRule(cxxMemberCallExpr(on(derivedFromAnyOfClasses(classes)),
callee(cxxMethodDecl(hasName(from), parameterCountIs(0)))),
changeTo(cat(access(o, cat(to)), "()")),
cat("use '", to, "' instead of '", from, "'"));
};
renameMethod(<classes>, "count", "size");
renameMethod(<classes>, "length", "size");
except that the on() matcher has been replaced by one that doesn't
ignoreParens().
a.k.a qt-port-to-std-compatible-api V5 with config Scope: 'Container'.
Added two NOLINTNEXTLINEs in tst_qbitarray and tst_qcontiguouscache,
to avoid porting calls that explicitly test count().

The function is used the internal window activation machinery and
should not be called by user code.
Many tests still use this function, and should be ported over to
QWidget::activateWindow(). For now they are using the private
helper in QApplicationPrivate, so that we can progress with the
public API deprecation.

The view.resize() command has no effect if the requested
size is smaller than the screen. So the view has space for
the whole model. It then won't scroll, so scrolling cannot
be tested.
This patch enlarges the model so that scrolling is always
necessary and thus possible.

We need to check whether the horizontal header's selection includes the
index for the row at the top, rather than for row 0, as the index we
check is based on the scrolled position of the header, so would never be
included in the top row when the view is scrolled. This is correctly
done in selectRow already.
Add a test case that simulates selection of rows and columns by clicking
on the header.

viewOptions returned a QStyleOptionViewItem object. Such a method
can never support newer versions of the option structure.
Most styleable QWidget classes provide a virtual method
initStyleOption that initializes the option object passed in as a
pointer, e.g QFrame, QAbstractSpinBox, or QComboBox.
Follow that API convention, but name it initViewItemOption, as the
QStyleOptionViewItem struct contains information about the item as
well as the widget itelf.
This is a source incompatible change that will go unnoticed unless
existing subclasses mark their overrides as 'override', or call
the removed QAbstractItemView::viewOption virtual function.
[ChangeLog][QtWidgets][QAbstractItemView] The virtual viewOptions
method that previously returned a QStyleOptionViewItem object has
been renamed to initViewItemOption, and initializes a
QStyleOptionViewItem object that's passed in through a pointer.

In Qt 5.0, delta() and orientation() were already marked obsolete,
but Widgets and tests have kept on depending on them all this time.
We now start using alternative API so they can really be deprecated.
All constructors except the newest one are also deprecated.
The plan is for all events from pointing devices to have
QPointF position() and globalPosition(), so we deprecate
the other position accessors.
[ChangeLog][QtGui] Obsolete constructors and accessors in QWheelEvent
now have proper deprecation macros. What is left is intended to be
compatible with planned changes in Qt 6.

QHeaderView::resizeSection() did not check if the given section size is
inside the min/max property bounds.
Also on calling setMin/MaximumSectionSize() the current section sizes
were not checked if they are inside the new given bounds.
This is a small behavior change when a user is setting the section size
via resizeSection() without respecting the min/maxSectionSizes.

QFontMetrics(F)::width() has been deprecated and is replaced by
horizontalAdvance(). This updates all usage of it in tests and
documentation.
It is worth noting that many or most of the usages of
QFontMetrics::width() probably intended to use boundingRect().width(),
but since it currently works, I have not looked into that, just
replaced the function name mechanically.

Use being()/end() instead.
These were the last remaining uses of QRegion::rects() within qtbase.

... by moving them in QTestPrivate namespace (qtesthelpers_p.h). This
header file is a convenient staging area for helper APIs, eventually
some could be moved to public QTest API.
This header file utilizes the same pattern as other qtestlib header
files - wrapping functions with QT_${LIBNAME}_LIB to automatically
enable certain APIs based on what is in the projects dependencies,
e.g. QT += widgets.

This is the result of running the (experimental) clang-tidy check
qt-modernize-qsharedpointer-create
Discarded changes:
- tst_qsharedpointer.cpp: not sure we want these replacements there
(→ separate change)
- tst_collations.cpp: hit in a template specialization that is
instantiated with both QSharedPointer and QSharedDataPointer.
